I've been pinned! I've been pinned! Tesla and I are going steady. Whoops, make that vinned.

Came today. The specifics:
Vin #: 7SAXCDE56NF34xxxx
The Vehicle: 5 seater, metallic blue, FSD, LR
Delivery Window (subject to change): 4/29-5/4/2022
Car Status: Made, in California, to ship by rail to Birmingham, AL, then by truck to delivery center.
Delivery Location: SS Kennesaw, GA
Tesla Contact: Delivery Specialist called this afternoon to confirm contact info. Said I will receive a text to schedule actual delivery sometime this week.

Only took 15 months. No sweat.

Congrats but 15 months!? That’s insane

Was your order on hold? Some background info may help others so they don’t stress their car will take 15 months :)

Edit: looks like he ordered an X not M3LR

I've been avoiding this forum for past week and a half to help preserve my sanity by not reading about all the pushed out EDDs and theories behind them, and the lack of VINs assigned recently. :p

No new change in my EDD but am I concerned by the large number of EDDs in the May and June timeframe with a pretty wide range of ODs. I don't think many of these will hold up (including my own) because I believe Tesla is really starting to feel the impact from the supply chain issues.

Aside from the lack of updates from Tesla, I had my electrician lay down wire (50 Amps) for the wall charger since he was laying down wire for another home project anyways. And I decided to get pre-approved for a loan to get locked from DCU and SFCU in anticipation of the Feds raising interest rates next week. Now I just hope my car comes before my pre-approval expires.

I got tired on messing with the Tesla spreadsheet so I connected it to Tableau. It's a good reference for order volume by week and what % have a VIN or not. I added a map also so you can see the distribution by state.

You can change the filters at the top and it will apply to the charts below.

Nice looking visualization! But it makes me even more worried about the lack of VINs being assigned in the start of this quarter compared to the start of Q1. :(

But I keep telling (or maybe lying 🤔) myself that the spreadsheet only captures a small sliver of the orders and is not really reflective of what is actually happening. LOL

Oh, and it should be worth noting for all the new people here. The spreadsheet is a great way to track progress, but looking at the calculated average days to VIN or delivery is completely meaningless now.

Sorry guys, this was supposed to be in the MX not the M3 waiting room. We have been waiting 15 months or longer for delivery over there in many cases. I got a little too excited and clicked the wrong forum for my post. Sorry bout dat. Hope you guys get your 3's sooner than we are!

I'm happy for anyone that gets a Tesla at this point. Enjoy!

Black M3 LR/RWD hanging gorgeously by a tree -- Richmond, BC

Finally test drove an M3 - LR today. It's very very fast. I don't even need AB or performance. The rear trunk auto-opens and closes, which is amazing. Also the car was manufactured in April so it probably had all the latest whistles. Rear seats had heating in them.

Cons: (Very subjective) FSD seemed so buggy, randomly stopping in streets lol. Too small! The rear seats are good only for tiny kids. Even the front space seemed crammed -- felt like I was driving a go-kart (Picture attached). And I am definitely not liking the minimalist approach. I have a very basic honda civic and it felt so good to be back in my own car.

Still -- looking forward to getting the new Tesla M3. Will be probably booking a Model Y meanwhile, But less bummed about the delivery date being pushed out. Doesn't feel AS bad anymore lol.

It's a pretty small sample so it's probably good for directional trends at best. The spreadsheet is mostly North America so a very high level estimate for Q1 would be 40k Model 3's in NA after backing out some for Hertz. The spreadsheet only captures around 200 of those so we gotta bump those numbers up.

I agree that the absolute numbers are definitely way off, but the the trends are likely accurate since it mainly captures people that have come across this forum and thread. You can probably assume that there is an increase in users on this site that is somewhat proportional to the increase number of orders post-Super Bowl. However, with that increase we still haven’t seen a lot of VINs assigned or cars delivered on orders from Feb 8 and later.

TLDR; completely agree with you but the trend in the lack of VINs or deliveries for orders from 2/8 and later is not looking good.

Are you sure you actually used FSD and not Autopilot? I don't think the Tesla loaner would have FSD activated, for a whole lot of reasons. If you were trying to use Autopilot on surface streets, yes, you're going to have a LOT of problems.
Not sure why you don't have room. I'm 6'3" and fit just fine in the M3. Back seat is a bit small, but I'll be in the front, so who cares?
I like the minimalist look, but hate the woodgrain. Another plus of ordering the white interior, no woodgrain.

I'm shocked at the number of people that have ordered these cars and not taken them for a test drive, or even sat in one before. I've never purchased a vehicle without driving it first. Seems so strange to me.

The minimalist interior doesn't take long to get used to. The size though, that wont get bigger. If you don't like the go-kart feeling go with a Y.

What do you mean by randomly stopping on the street? I am not sure if you are aware of different settings of the car, one of them basically is an automatic break(slowly) when your foot is not stepping on the acceleration. There is a setting where it will feel like a regular car

100% FSD - Tesla test drive vehicles have FSD activated (not the beta though) -- I have driven a Model Y test vehicle earlier with FSD in the US and it is 10000 times better than Canadian FSD -- which, sucks. Like in US, I took the FSD in Seattle which has very shitty roads -- small roads, but the car would switch lanes like a champpp. Literally squeezing in so tight between cars.

Here in Canada -- it will basically stop in the middle of the road without any reason. Reason I went with M3 is to get it sooner -- but they never had any demo vehicles back when I was putting in the order so I just booked one and thought of test driving it later as I did now. But it gave me a clarity to book MY right away. M3 aint gonna cut it longer term for me.

It was on FSD -- not AP made sure. Also Canadian FSD -- it definitely isnt as good as the American one, also it costs 33% lesser than the american counter part only US $8000 if purchased in Canada, and now I know why 😂
