Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

First post, but thought I would throw my info out there for people who are thinking about changing models. I just changed to a performance last night from a Long Range. Still (as of right now) have the same EDD.
M3 Performance, Deep Blue Metallic, Black interior, no FSD (changed from Long Range)
OD: 4/12(Long Range)
1st: EDD: 7/22-9/2 (Long Range) I 2nd EDD: 7/22-9/2 (Upgraded to Performance on 5/12)

got 6 runs, all of them being 11.3@117 except for one tree experiment which netted an 11.40 it is amazing how many older people hate Tesla and electric cars in general. Guys that were mid 30's and younger loved the car, and the boomers are not fans.

couple data points:

highway range @70mph in chill mode used 50% of the range in 97 miles. I did not expect that.

dragstrip is in the middle of the woods, and has minimal cell reception. when they called my lane to run, i got locked out of the car. my wallet/keycard were in the console, and my phone was not communicating. I had to walk around and try to get a little signal to unlock the car.... after that, i put the keycard in my pocket. but, damn, that coulda been the beginning to a sh!tty evening...

yes. i went 255/40-18, which is 6/10" shorter. I was paced by a buddy with GPS, and I was doing an indicated 71mph and he was doing 69mph.

Hope you guys and gals all get your cars. Quality seems to be improving, so that is a good thing.

Oh, I popped my dash cap trying to find the loose nut, and got nowhere. I scheduled my first service appointment fo may 23rd. Hopefully my car is not buchered! :p

Range does not seem change with lighter wheels. My 18's are 9 lbs lighter per corner, and i changed to 18" wheels in the wheel configuration. NOTHING changed, estimated range and actuality seem to not change at all.
Sorry about the problem. But you should be able to take out a few Corvette Stingrays with that time and mph. Way to go!

For those curious, this is what the TSportline wheels look like with the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus look like. I'll send more comparisons later when I swap the wheels out.

Alright… update this morning… went from a 14 day window to a 13 day window… not sure what to think of that but a shrinking window is progress!

M3P, MSM, black, no FSD, Central California

3/7: OD EDD April 2022
3/8: EDD June 5 - July 10
3/13: EDD May 1 - May 29
3/31: EDD April 18-May 16
4/19: EDD April 29- May 13
4/24: EDD May 6- May 20
5/07: EDD May 14- May 28
5/13: EDD May 15- May 28
Exact same thing for me...wonder why it added a day to the front and changed it to 13 days. Maybe this is a good sign. Changes in sig

Did you setup your phone as key? You don’t need cell reception for that to work. It would just use Bluetooth.
Yes, phone key setup. Yes, in theory bluetooth connection would not be affected by lack of cell signal, BUT it happened to me anyway. Just an fyi, keep that key card in your pocket if you are in bad cell area...

T Sportline makes solid wheels. I had a set of the 18” TST’s on my old LR RWD Model 3. I sold them last year after I bought a set of OEM 19s and powdercoated them satin black.

I wanted to get a set for my Y but the exchange rate is killer now so I bought a Turbine style wheel similar to the TST’s from a Canadian company that makes them to Tesla spec.

It was probably just one of the infamous phone key failures that just got you at the worst possible time. Usually opening the Tesla app, cycling Bluetooth or Airplane mode gets it going again. I can assure you it didn’t have anything to do with the cell reception.

No worries GC, glad I could spread some info.. The truth you seek is beyond my level of explanation and I'll apologize for the length and some of the technical aspects of this video but this guy is way smarter when it comes to your question. Ultimately, my understanding is YES! The decrease in weight and size reduces the amount of energy required to move the rolling mass, which equals improved economy.. But don't take my word for it..

This guys says that you should theoretically see a 15% increase in range by swapping from 20's to 18's.

GREAT video RuTang, wow that guy gets right into the science of it. Thanks as always!

After getting nowhere with multiple Mt. Kisco SA's I tried the 888 number, waited 1.5 hours, and actually spoke to someone who was very friendly and seemed helpful. The story on my car. There was a delay with delivery, it sounds like they are short on drivers/transport trucks and just looking through some of the other delivery threads this seems legitimate.

He did tell me the car is in NY and the biggest hold up is NY State requires all cars to go through a NY inspection process that is on top of the Tesla quality control inspection. He told me they are short handed it seems and cars are queued up and backed up to get the NY inspection done, but my car was in queue. I asked if there was any issue with the car or any missing parts and he told me no. The car passed the Tesla inspection and it isn't missing anything.

He told me the Mt Kisco team has to set the delivery date but he was going to try and see what he could do about getting my car inspected since I have travel coming up soon out of state. He did say if I miss my 3-4 delivery window that they won't hold the car and he said unless someone cancels, I am back to waiting and it could be a few months. So let's hope it doesn't come to that.

I am still going to try and allocate an alternative vehicle (BMW M3 iDrive). The dealer said he has one incoming in about a month for MSRP and he just needs a $1K refundable deposit. So going to cover my back in case my Model 3 goes from bad to worse. I have to say I am just not impressed so far with Tesla, but I truly want the car so will wait and see. I am still not 100% sure if what they are telling me is true since people like Rodney who had the exact same spec car and ordered after me already have their car from Mt Kisco. I still think there could be an issue with my car they are not telling me.

If I don't have an update by this time next week I suspect it has to be a bigger issue (like the car being damaged in transport and waiting on body work).

I really do feel bad you have to go through this. Having something delayed is one thing. Not being provided the reason is another.

Hopefully, what the national rep said is true and you just got the short end of the stick with travel and logistics.

It is weird that someone else with the same exact car who ordered after you got their car first, but this is Tesla and their ways must be higher than our ways. It's almost like you need blind faith when it comes to Tesla. No wonder people call it a cult.

Yeah I am curious if I am the only other person in the forums held up in Mt Kisco right now for inspection delays. He said they have a ton of cars waiting to get inspected which I can see as Mt Kisco is the closest place for anyone in CT like me because CT has banned Tesla from selling vehicles directly here (which is a whole different level of insanity).

I did see in other threads that logistics have been bad lately and some peoples cars have been taking weeks longer to get shipped and delivered than usual. Like you said I probably got the short stick with a truck that sat idle for days. I think it's odd though that the car has landed and they still can't give me a delivery window. It doesn't seem hard. x number of cars get inspected a day. x number of cars in queue. My place in queue should be able to be calculated within a day or two.

i got a new edd update, May 15 to may 27 before it was may 13th, not sure if that is good news or not and saw that that my credit offer expired with it..not sure if i should leave that that as is or change it.
The one thing Tesla needs to stop doing is prompting us to go through the credit app process when we place our orders. I learned after the fact to select "cash option" then change it, but Tesla of course doesn't offer that advice. Credit approvals expire in 60 days and I don't know anyone here or elsewhere that took delivery inside of a 60 day window.

I changed mine to cash option afterwards, but I'll go to a local credit union here once I get a bonified confirmed delivery date.
