Given how many wires are taped on the car (including on the outside). This may be a different development/testing vehicle, that may have things that might not make it to production (we have seen some of that for the Model S). Covering something like that makes sense.

Simple answer. They want to wait until the reveal to show the buttons/scroll wheels on the steering wheel.. Jumping to any conclusions that this confirms the HUD is just silly. Plus they like to drive forum members crazy

I never said this confrms HUD. Elon already said no HUD. It means there is a steering wheel that is better designed to handle full autonomy in my opinion

There is no elaborate prank. They're driving a car which Tesla wants to remain secretive about. They get the opportunity to know what everyone else is salivating about.

It CONFIRMS they are just covering up because they thought at the time it would be a good idea.
