Model S Delivery Dates and Sequencing

On yesterday's factory tour, I was seeing VIN's in the 3050-3150 range getting windshields and seats installed. Interestingly enough, it was the same robot doing these tasks by changing it's arm on it's own. Neat!

Well then, I'm guessing that my 2943 has already been built and is getting close to delivery! I'm in the 12/15-31 window, have signed my final MVPA, completed the DMV forms and sent them back with my $$. Now all I need is a date and time to tour the factory, pick up my car, and head back to Carlsbad. We're shooting for this Saturday!
or Sunday.
or Monday!

I'll be right behind ya my vin 2970 could be getting close. Wired my down payment, MVPA sent, DMV forms sent, DMV registration tags (don't forget to bring them), and just waiting for my Penfed check.

Wow, and they actually loaded it on the truck without payment in full? Yeah, you're getting much better treatment than us buckeyes.
Not only on the truck, but the car was placed in my driveway before any payment beyond the $5k deposit was required. The DS started his orientation process and I felt somewhat obligated to ask him to come inside to sign the paperwork, give him the check from the bank and write a $22k personal check for the down payment! The whole process was professional but also very personal.

We are fortunate here in Florida to have a very active Tesla users group and now a local service center in Tampa. I had met our Delivery Specialist before at Tesla events. Having such a close network of other Model S early adopters enhances the enjoyment of this whole experience beyond the car itself. Now that many of us have our cars - it's only going to be that much better with events and get-togethers.

Really? The "Status:" field on the My Garage webpage wasn't very functional for describing the delivery status of either your Roadster or Model S. it ought to be either functional / accurate or deleted from the webpage.

My car is said to have left Fremont at 3:59pm (PT) on Friday. The driving time to Scottsdale is 12 hrs, 6 min. It's now been 42 hrs, 11 minutes. Maybe the driver stopped for coffee, maybe he has a girlfriend in Barstow . . . no, I'm not anxious.

I just amused myself by considering that my first car was a 1929 Model A that cost $250. The 2012 Model S will be a bit more expensive (and does not come with an optional hand crank for use when the battery is low on charge). We've come a long way.

Mark, so close but perhaps just in time as a (belated) XMAS present. Keeping my fingers crossed for you to get your car in the next day or so.

dmizok,
Please shoot some pics of yours when you get it. I've got Silver/Grey on order (15-31st delivery but no ViN so I'm probably a 2013 car) and would love to get a preview.
Thanks,
Bill

Sure, glad to Bill. It doesn't look like there's whole lot of the silver/gray combination. I've got another car that is silver with black leather and I do like it. However, I wanted my S to have a lighter, more airy feel to it. The gray leather appears to be a shade or two darker than the silver paint, which should provide a subtle contrast between the two. I'll do my best to get some good pics for you.

Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to get a firm date and time for our pickup and tour. There's only six days left to deliver my 2012 Model S!

Don

Hmm, didn't realize that GA has a different set of rules. Probably explains why the delivery specialist noted that delivery of the car (once built) will be quicker. I guess they don't need to schedule a delivery specialist.
btw, hows the car? Given how much people in Atlanta love their vehicles and use it as a status symbol- you must be getting a lot of looks. I have yet to see any on the road yet though- hopefully that will change next month!

Sorry for the delay and side track. But if you're on Facebook, we have a group for Tesla enthusiasts and owners in Atlanta. PM me for details and I'll add you on there.

Vin 1401 delivered December 24th at 5:30 PM! Merry Christmas to us!

Perf, Silver, body color roof, tech, silver 21" wheels.
Missing: Parcel Shelf, Frunk Cargo net.

And of course i just realized that the Model S doesn't include rear floor mats? Honestly I've never seen a car (except the Roadster maybe :) that didn't come with rear floor mats. Seems odd.

Got my email this morning, VIN 2970 is ready for pickup. Unfortunately, don't have my penfed check yet. Got the final MVPA over the weekend and faxed it penfed (w/the VIN), but they've been closed til today. Not sure how fast they turn around checks, but have requested overnight delivery for $15. Crossing fingers.

I'm told my car should be on a truck leaving the factory within 24 hours.

Upon hearing this news my 5 year old drew me this:

Update on P1577, VIN 1653: Expected delivery is this Saturday, which means a total trip time to the east coast of 9 days--I guess that's not too bad given the holidays.

I have cleaned and vacuumed the garage twice this week. I was up half the night wondering if the truck would show up today (hadn't heard anything so I called this morning). After three years of waiting, I'm ready to get this show on the road!

Too bad I have one more ICE-powered 70 mile commute! My fingers are crossed that the car is in good condition, works well, and has some electrons swimming around in the battery when it gets here!

PenFed cut me a check in less than 2 hours...the downside is they didn't ask me how I wanted it sent. By the time I called them to follow up on it about 2 hours after i filled out the online app, they said the check was already in the mail to my home address...took about 3 days from Omaha to VA. The final MVPA paperwork was taking sometime, so fortunately the snail mail didn't hold anything up. The final MVPA came in the day after my check arrived. Now I'm just wait for a final delivery date.

Mine arrived today in snow, sleet, and rain. Went straight into the garage. Weather is supposed to clear overnight and looking forward to my first drive. Unwrapped picture coming tomorrow.

P3049, VIN 2329, 85 kwh, Blue, 19" wheels, Piano black interior, black textile, tech package, air suspension, parcel shelf.
