Model S LR refreshed radar detector windshield test

Well I took out my new LR for some test runs with a V1 Gen 2 to compare how it performed. I went to a school with a constant K band radar. I tested it in the top of the windshield just to the left of the mirror and then I tested it on the bottom right corner where the manual says you should put the toll tag. I did 2 runs with each spot and found no difference in range. Not very scientific but based on what I saw the location on the windshield does not seem to impact radar detector range.

I have driven a few hundred miles and I can confidently say that the windshield does not have a coating that is limiting radar detection range. I am getting very similar range as I did from my previous car. Now I just need to figure out where to direct wire with my 2021 Refreshed LR Model S. If anyone has figured this out please let me know

I have a 2021 Plaid and I’m waiting for the same thing. I have a Redline 360c still in the box, just waiting to be installed. Anyone know if the rumor is true that the Plaid Model S mirror is the same as the Model 3? I ask because Blendmount has options for Y and 3’s.

Anyone ever able to figure out how to hardwire to the Model S Plaid via MirrorTap? I've taken a look at the wires behind the mirror and they're completely different from any other Model S installs I've found.

I was just in my garage trying to figure this out as well. Let me know if you’re able to find anything.

Me too. I read someone tapped the camera power. I think you have to take the mirror off to get the full cover off to get at that. I have not been brave enough to do it yet.

Did you get it off?

It’s an awkward twist and awkward angle but it came off fairly easy.

Twist it at the “elbow”, don’t touch the mirror, twist the base. The base it’s mounted in is almost straight up, not towards the glass which is a little confusing.

Hey! Did you hear back from Blend mount? I have same situation.

If you search around you will see that there are a number of people, myself included, running the blendmount with no problems.
