Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

After driving about 90 miles in cold weather (33-48 F) last night and arriving home with about 50 miles range (46projected or so), it was in "yellow bar" mode. The whole night I had climate control at 72 degrees. As I arrived home (about a mile from my house), the climate control seemed less effective and I figured perhaps there something that tripped in the battery protection and went to bed not really worrying about it.

Today when I woke up my vehicle (to scout for an update notification), I found that the climate control is set to LO.

Anybody else run across it flipping to "LO" on its own?

Came across my first mechanical problem with my car. For some reason I cannot open the rear left door from the inside. It can be opened from the outside, and through the emergency handles you pull from the floor (make sure your custom floor mats don't block these!). All other doors can be opened from the inside. I left the key in the cup holder to ensure it wasn't a problem of the driver leaving the car.

Did you try setting and unsettling the child locks?
It would be odd for only one of rear doors to do that, but worth a shot?

My car is scheduled to have all these issues taken care of once the parts are available. My service advisor told me that he will take care of all these issues when I bring the car in. Right now I am just looking for an interim solution. I do not see any harm in removing the fuse, as this may accomplish the same result as the official hard reset procedure?

So where (in) the frunk are the fuses? My 3G stopped working Saturday and I'm eager to get the new updates! =)

Thought I'd post a picture of this -- there were questions previously as to whether the GPS worked when the 3G connection didn't. I had a terrible time the other night with my 3G connection, yet my GPS seemed to be working as my red arrow moved through these gray bars on the screen that wouldn't fill in because of the spotty 3G connection.

This becomes an issue when I'm trying to see traffic, and when the Nav system is trying to find an address or point of reference so I can get directions. Sometimes, I have to do this while driving to get a better signal, which obviously isn't the safest way to go about things. Unfortunate, but hopefully (eventually) we'll get 4G service and this will become less of an issue.

OK I figured out where the fuses are. In the back of the frunk lift the back of the plastic panel that covers the windshield wiper fluid. Just lift the back of it (close to the windshield) and it'll pop off the back and then you can pull it back towards the windshield and remove it.

Then there are two fuse boxes beneath. But usually there is a label somewhere that specifies what the fuses are for but I don't see such labels. Anybody know which is the 3G fuse or if there is a fuse diagram available?

Just posted the following on that site:
When I was taking delivery at the Fremont factory last week, the Delivery Specialist was showing me how to use the Charging Port and the very same thing happened. But what must be done, is when the button is clicked on the charge cord, it must be wiggled a bit to release. Once you've done it, it becomes second nature.

I see 29 comments; yours isn't among them. Maybe it takes a while to appear?

Thanks dflye. It's labeled 'touchscreen'. I tried it and it didn't work. I'll call Tesla tomorrow.

Not sure if your scenario is the same as mine: 3G worked fine at time of delivery, but stopped working at some point when garaged overnight a few days later. I have almost zero 3G coverage in the garage, very rarely can I type in a destination in the navigation before leaving the neighborhood. Once the S gave up on the 3G, it stayed off for several days (even when going through areas where it had great 3G coverage a few days earlier.) Tesla service had me yank the "touchscreen" fuse to give it a hard reset and then had me wait a few minutes before reseating the fuse. At that point 3G functionality came back.

Yeah, same thing. Was working fine for 3 weeks then got in the car one morning and I can't remember if it was shortly after take off or at start up but definitely within the first mile I noticed internet radio wasn't working but didn't troubleshoot and only 20 miles later when I went to navigation did it clue me in that 3G wasn't working.

This time I removed the fuse and waited a few minutes (7 minutes while I went and did something else) and after I plugged the fuse back in, 3G started up again. I'll report it to Tesla so that they have a record of it till they can figure out root cause.

Thanks again dflye.
