I did the same thing 2 days ago. Found a test drive model for crazy cheap P100D 2018 build w/FSD. 3k miles on it but heavily discounted. Waiting for pics to make final decision. It’s considered new so I’ll still get fed deduction. Def good decision to go with 100D.

If you buy new and it’s delayed you may lose 1,875 bucks.

Be careful on waiting for the pics coz you may lose the car, someone else can just place their order on it, I know coz this happened to me, I waited for a call back and waited to decide on it due to some negative stories I’ve read from threads and next thing I know when I spoke to CS, the car’s been sold already.

The car is locked in. Already put 2500 down, refundable. The car is in my account so I should be good. But thank you for the warning. I jumped on it quickly with a down payment knowing I can get it back if pics are not good.
I had an existing inventory specialist call me with it. They see WAY more than you or I can see online. If anyone wants this guy’s info then just PM me. He is excellent.

I'd get a discounted inventory 100D. There are some incredible deals that pop up and go quick. P100D is probably the best deal for existing owners because they are giving free ludicrous upgrade. There was a black demo P100D ludicrous a few days ago with 3400 miles. $99k with FSD, 6 seat white interior. The crazy part was for current owners it was being discounted $20k to $79k because ludicrous was being comped. Can't justify ordering new when there are inventory deals like these.

I totally get it! We ended up ordering and inventory 100D as well.
Wait, so for current owners, they don’t have to get the new/refresh models to get the free Ludicrous upgrade? You mean they can just get an inventory Performance?

I spoke with a OA who said they are discounting 20k off inventory performance cars with ludicrous. It's probably a push to get rid of 2018 models

They are not comping me ludicrous though. that would be 20k. Is that documented anywhere? they said i'll get the car for 80k P100D with 3k miles, but Lud is another 20k.

On 2nd look, i think it's if you own an X or S, not a model 3 like I do.

How do you all check inventory? Is there anything more use friendly that tesla.com site?
i was using the site, then i got ahold of an "Ownership Advisor, Inside Sales" person. I clicked on the chat bubble when I was browsing the site, and they called me the next day. they have more insight into what's available than we do on the site.

I sent a PM. Can you please send me the inventory specialist details.

I'm confused about these discounts. When I look at the Model X inventory near me, they COST MORE than configuring the same thing new. For instance, here's a black LR, 22" wheels, 6-seat, AP with the old 0-60 and range, for 104,500 but configuring the same thing new comes out to 102,500. This inventory model does show free supercharging, but where's the amazing ($20K?) discount for being a pre-Raven model? And have they not even applied the recent $2,000 discount?

Do you only get "good" pricing by having a Tesla person look for you?

Not all inventory are good deals and you’re right, some of the inventory models cost more than custom ordering a new one. Some people may find that deal “better” because of free supercharging - must when doing roadtrips or if you don’t have a wall charger at home then that’s a big deal.
Try calling your local Tesla gallery or go to store and ask for their inventory X models, the sales advisor there see more internally than what it shown on the tesla.com website.

Hope that helps you.

Got my Inventory 100D, pre refresh but with AP 3.0 delivered yesterday. Love it!
Tesla definitely has come a long way since 2016, when I got my Model S.

One thing I noticed right out of the bat, the new Autopilot. I mean... wowzer!
I'm used to an AP 1.0 car, that I've driven for the last 3 years. And so far, from reading in the forums here and youtube videos, I was under the impression, that AP 1.0 and AP 2.0/2.5 were at best on par (except new features not available on AP 1.0 cars).
But AP 3.0 is a total different ball game. This thing literally drives, like it's on rails! There's no swerving in the lane at all, at least from my short 15 mile drive yesterday. AP 1.0 was good, but this feels a lot more precise. I'm really impressed and positively surprised!

I'm also really digging the new gray/anthracite trim on the interior, compared to the old chrome trims. It looks so much better.

The 20k discount is for current owners of a S or X who are buying a P100D with ludicrous. The best deals are never published online and you need to call your local showroom and find a owner advisor who can find cars for you. I have attached one that already sold but came out to $79,100 for a X P100D and ludicrous was given for free and price adjusted $20k for a black on white 6 seat config with FSD. For those who aren't owners, they may be willing to remove $20k from the price of a P100DL but you don't get ludicrous for free, again this depends on how badly they want the car gone. Location plays a huge role and CA has had the most inventory.

Nice! Congrats dude. Just wondering, Did you get the free unlimited SC on yours?
I read about it yesterday morning here in the forums, 2 hours before my delivery appointment. So I sent an email to my adviser and asked him politely, if he can add the free supercharging to my car, since every new inventory car has it now, or if I have to cancel my order and re-order to get the free Supercharging.
He spoke to his manager and the free supercharging was approved! He said, it might take a few days to show up in my Tesla account, but he said it went through and I can take delivery.
He has been great so far, so I'm trusting him to get this done. If I don't get it, it's not a deal breaker. 99% of my driving is local and at home charging. We go maybe on one or two road trips a year, so no biggie, if I don't get it.

That’s great to hear! Hoping to take delivery next week for our X.

Have you experienced any “acceleration shutter” problems?

Unfortunately I did, noticeable on Standard height. But it really only happens, when you floor it. Most of the time, I actually don't lol.
I give it a few weeks, most likely after the quarter ends, and then call the Service center and see, if they have a solution for it.

I get mixed messages from the forums here. Some say, there's new parts that fix the issue, others say they're still not available. By waiting a few weeks, I'm hoping that they will have parts available at that time.
