Does anyone have an idea when the mid-life Y changes (interior change/black geminis/stealth grey) will start being implemented outside of China? Countries that get cars from China but aren't China still show the old version. Countries that come from Berlin show the old version.

Yeah, but that’s not the 2024 version. That one is out overseas already and has the minor changes. That’s the 2024 model.

No there are a lot of inventory cars still and what whoever I talked to at Tesla meant by “in transit” vehicles are all still 2023 vins.

My dealership in Lawerenceville, NJ has a back lot across the Mercer Mall with over hundreds of Tesla vehicles on the lot - Intransit vehicles . I guess they distribute these cars to other Tesla locations.

Now that it’s 2024 anything coming out of the factory has to be a 2024 model year, so they’ll get there eventually.

Why would they offer a discount, they don't send 24' models to the market until the 23' models are sold out, they have inverters to take into account.

Plenty of people will snap them up as inventory cars at the current discount. They’ll be gone soon enough. Meanwhile they’ll divert early 2024 production overseas or to far-flung domestic places (like they do every quarter) to minimize the amount of overlap on the market.

Historically Tesla changed model years no later than January 1. If so buying a one model year old 2023 car for 10% or less off sticker as they are now priced is an instant money loser unless you keep it beyond 7 years. But some people no doubt just need the lower price now and will buy leftovers.

One problem in early January is that if you order a car and Tesla has a 2023 that matches, there is no guarantee you will get a 2024 over that one.

This is just old-school hyperbole from a bygone era. A ~10% discount will make you square within a year or so max. Mileage and condition matters far more after a year or two - an otherwise identical Dec ‘23 and Jan ‘24 car aren’t going to have radically different values.

Kind of sad the midnight silver is gone since the stealth grey looks too close to black IMO. I liked that the silver was more in between the white and black and was actually just a grey color, not “silver”.

The EPA test methodology changed for all 2024 cars to take a better average.
