Ditto. I contacted modern spare and they told me mine is in transit. I am also preparing my first road trip with MY.They responded really quickly. Let me know what they say. Hoping to have mine before a road trip at the end of the month.
Not really a place for it. Just keep it in the back. There is a guy on YT that made a few small modifications and was able to fit the kit in the rear well area. When I go back cross country my plan is to put it in the roof top box. Doesn't weigh much and I don't PLAN on needing it.Where do you store the spare tire in the car? Is there a place for it?
I just put it behind the drivers seat on road trips. Most of the time it stays in the garage. It’s bigger than you think.Where do you store the spare tire in the car? Is there a place for it?
No. That’s why you will find several threads on this site about the tire repair kits, compressors, tools and spare options people are going with as well as comments about Tesla roadside service. Is there even a jack/tools comes with the car?
Absolutly, ModernSpare should have included a Hub Centering Ring,Resurrecting an older post.
Just this morning, I finally took the time to try to install my Modern Spare on my 2021 MY. I was shocked to see that the ModernSpare hub opening is considerably larger (3"?) than the MY hub (2 1/2"?)
Maybe this is old-school thinking, but it has been my understanding that any wheel should fit snugly around the hub itself, so that the HUB is supporting the vertical stress of the wheel, and that the lugbolts/nuts simply hold the wheel on the hub.
Am I missing something here, or is the ModernSpare not designed properly for our rather heavy Tesla MYs?
CURT 31006 24-Inch High Trailer Hitch Spare Tire Mount for 2-inch ReceiverWould be cool if they had a spare tire holder one could connect a full spare to their hitch when they needed for longer road trips.
I assume few have bothered with runflats on the Tesla due to wear, road noise and road manner?
Yeah, have seen that one, but would need to remove the mount and tire every time you open the trunk unless I'm missing something?
There are similar hitch mounts for a spare tire that can be tilted or swing away so you can open the hatch.Yeah, have seen that one, but would need to remove the mount and tire every time you open the trunk unless I'm missing something?
the link was not working, I think this will fix the issue:
Yes, here is a link for a tilting version:There are similar hitch mounts for a spare tire that can be tilted or swing away so you can open the hatch.
BimmerZone? Which wheel did you purchase?
Is it appropriate for the weight of the MY?
