What where you expecting ? That you call it on your watch and the car comes to you and talks to you?

Well... that is more or less the grand scheme right?? The holy grail of what mr musk is selling right?? But that is not where this system is at.. it is still an experimental system at this point.. but eventually.....the car comes when 'summoned" right?? all the way across the US? drives itself....

I certainly don't need it to talk to me... no thanks...

but I was expecting the car to drive itself with me behind the wheel........ so i could lay back and listen to the music.. .. this is more or less the way it was presented to me.... NOT that I would have to hover over it like a two year old kid with a screw driver running thru the house... how can anyone take it easy or reduce stress when they have to keep both hands on the wheel and stay fully alert at all times.?..

I might as well drive myself if that's the case.. I can relax a lot more that way personally...and I usually drive with one hand on the wheel... about 90% of the time actually... Haven't been in any accident in like 16 years either...

why can't TESLA refund my money?? Disable the system... and charge the next owner $3000 if they want this half baked system? They stand to make another $500 assuming they can find another taker to step up to the plate...

knowing what I know now about this AP system.. I won't ever spend another cent on it in my future vehicles.. they'll have to bury the cost of it in other features actually worth something to me....

If you don't like using full AP, have you tried just using the Traffic aware cruise control, TACC ... very stress free

Nonsense, AP does exactly what Tesla stated.

What car manufacturer lets you return options you ordered with the car? And no they wouldn't make $500, there are costs involved with dealing with the order, payment, updating databases, processing the order, etc. (Double in taking it away from you, and then adding it back for a future owner.)

If you weren't sure you wanted it you shouldn't have bought it. My understanding is that people that don't buy AP get offered a 30-day free trial so they can see if they want it or not.

And finally I think a lot of people think the cost of AP is worth it for TACC alone. (Yes I know TACC only should cost less.) The AutoSteer, AutoPark, Summon, etc. are all icing on the cake.

I use auto pilot everyday and every day i'm blown away by it. I don't believe anything you are saying to be honest, actually maybe I do believe you, but you would have to be incredibly dumb to not see the amazing technology and how much safer your car is now with autopilot. The autopilot that is installed right now. I don't hover it like a two year old, it helps me relax and it's damm better driver than any other car around me.

Exactly @electricity.

Sorry but you need more help than we can offer on this forum if you can't figure out how to use AP enjoyably on long highway drives or in stop and go traffic.

For some folks it is their nature that they are never satisfied. To expect a car will drive itself with the driver eyes closed in all situations, is not just naive but a bit foolish. I feel sorry for them.

You don't need to keep your hands on the wheel, just need to pay some cursory attention in good conditions and extra attention during edge conditions. It is so damn relaxing.

Just use basic common sense to understand what are good conditions and edge conditions.

True.

In autopilot's case it's not just a scratch here or there, your life or someone else's may depend on your constant vigilance.

What car manufacturer lets you return options you ordered with the car?
Agree.

. I won't ever spend another cent on it in my future vehicles..
Don't write it off just yet, Autopilot works wonders in slowly creeping traffic, very stress relieving.

and how much safer your car is now with autopilot
Agree to disagree, don't think autopilot is there yet, one day for sure.

Here. Elon Musk explained in 2014 that Autopilot is NOT autonomous.

Ouch. Glad to hear they walked away fine from the incident. This is one of the risks taking on leading edge technology but this should be good technical data for Tesla. Glad to hear WeChat helped out a bit.

"Presented to you" by whom?

If your response is "A Tesla employee" than my response is, I don't believe you are accurately describing what that Tesla employee to,d you about Autopilot.

yes... as presented by TESLA sales specialists.... I think only one was REALLY completely honest.. he said "It's a cool feature to have if you do a lot of highway driving but I'm not sure if you'll really get your money's worth in the type of driving you do on a routine basis""

He was 100% right.... auto steer does not work 100% on most local roads.. is limited to not more than 5 MPH over the limit on my roads.. (a freaking road rage hazard in Nj ) the summon feature isn't worth two cents to me... and I can parallel park my car... been doing it for 40 years....

The rest behaved like AP was a gift from the Almighty himself!!

Your refund is in the mail... ... ... ... ... ... <ad nasueam>

TESLA will never offer a refund... ya see.. customer satisfaction isn't their HIGHEST calling... making the $$$$$ is....

but they will NOT get me again..... they'll have to bury it in some convenience package with other more worthy options to ever sell that to me again...

Next time I opt for a nicer set of wheels....

I driven with the AP engaged for about 800 miles all in all of the 8400 on my MS ... about half highway and half local....

it drifts.. enough it almost makes me a bit sea sick....fails to set a middle of the lane on lots of decel and accel lanes (still) ... and lane pushes.....the ACC panic brakes on cars and trucks turning off the road... and sometimes even stopped on the shoulder... sometimes it just stops and slows for no apparent reason... AP has nearly run the car off the road twice on curves... can't see well in the rain.. or where lines are weaker... doesn't move over for pot holes or rough pavement or dead animals in the road... can't see over hills ... and I absolutely would not trust it on congested highways... the AP above the speed limit max setting in many places is too low .. 5 MPH isn't enough.. I have encountered several irate drivers.. (mostly in Hondas') who yell and scream in wild rages at me because it won't go the usual 8-9 MPH over we are used to doing around here....do not use it through constructions zones with jersey barriers (esp. those with lines painted on their bottoms and NOT the roadway itself) unless you are willing to lose a mirror....

another problem is the spacing on the ACC.. if I set it for the lowest setting... vehicles continually cut in front of me on the highway.. and every time they do... the ACC slows again... allowing yet another vehicle to cut in front of me.... another failing is when it slows.. and I try to make a left lane move.. now I am going considerably less speed than the left lane traffic... so I have to over rule the speed control to pass

... as far as the lane change feature... sometimes it works.. sometimes it don't.... I can change lanes pretty good on my own too..

all in all.. I say 'save your money " until the system is finished it's experimental stages... it's a nice sales gimmick that might fully satisfy a few.. a to you I would say.. great!! Have fun!! But keep both hands on the wheel.. and look out for trouble always...

Geez.. you know what?? .. that sounds alot like actually driving the vehicle for $2500 more dollars....

I'm

it happen yesterday around 2am. Address is in one of the photo. I'm also not quite sure about what wood stake is. He said he has a video but wasn't able to upload to the the chat group we are in. The said part of the wood stake was buried deep in the group got hit a way. I do not have any more information. It's all I know ATM

If you are not sure of the information, why are you posting here under the title Crashed using Auto Pilot?? We need some common sense. On a rural road, so remote there is no cell coverage may not be the place to put on Auto Pilot at night. Driving, we make lots of decisions a minute about speed, road conditions, obstructions, lighting as well as markings on the pavement. Auto Pilot is not intended to be Autonomous Driving. It is merely lane keeping in the right conditions, coupled with cruise control at this stage of Beta.

Are you sure you did not end by buying and driving a Volvo XC90 or a Mercedes? What you are describing matches those cars and doesn't even remotely look like a Tesla.

Walk around and look for the T symbol. Good luck.
