New 85 kWh battery capacity and 85D Ludicrous

Today I did read Can bus data from a late produced 85D with 300 km odo. And also a new 90D

Looks like the available total kWh as new for 85 is 79.3 + 4 kWh buffer. So a new 85 kWh battery is 83.3 kWh.
The 90D was 84.9 + 4 kWh = 88.9 kWh

But another interesting discovery was that this normal non P 85D have a P85D Ludicrous battery with part number 1064362-00-A.

For an 02/2015 P85D, would the contactors have to be upgraded to iconel for Ludicrous? Or are they already? Would it have a picofuse?

No a car build 02/15 does not have a Ludicrous battery. It has the older 1.5 enclosure and battery part number: 1031043-00-E.
But the 2.0 batteries are possible to use on cars with 1.5. Older cars before dual motor have 1.0 and can not use any of the larger/newer batteries.

What's the difference between 1.5 and 2.0 batteries?

My P85D built in June 2015 has 1055519-00-B.

Another Aussie owner's P85D built towards the end of 2015 has 1064362-00-A, which is a Ludicrous pack according to your parts list. Does that mean the Ludicrous retrofit for him is purely a software modification?

Let me get this straight. So my 85D delivered in December '15 can be upgraded to Ludicrous? I thought only P85D and P90D with the 3rd motor could be upgraded to Ludicrous.
No, only P85D can be upgraded. Need the larger rear motor for the extra power and only the P models have the ludicrous option.

But I think if Tesla wanted they could turn up the power some on the 85D also.

My part number is 1074980-00-E.

And I have this orange cover that wasn't there before the L upgrade:

So what do I have? Did the change the battery on me or did the modify my existing battery? My serial number remained the same but they printed a new sticker and it's in a different spot than before the L upgrade.

I have one of the last 85Ds before they discontinued it. Took a look at my battery sticker and it looks like I have the P85DL battery (1064362-00-A) based on the discussion in this thread. Does this mean that it's conceivable to upgrade to a P85D(L) with just a DU replacement to swap out the smaller rear motor with the larger one?
