Although we've been waiting a long time to get our money's worth for FSD, I like to keep something in mind: If it weren't for Tesla, there'd be no such thing as even a chance to get into something like an FSD beta, or the beta versions of autopilot, etc. -- that we've already enjoyed. Just think about how much that's improved through software updates.
The traditional car companies can't fathom letting customers beta anything at scale. They're too risk averse and would also rather give us incremental improvements -- by buying another vehicle from them the next model year. That's slowly changing, thanks to market pressure from Tesla.
FSD is fundamentally a very different kind of challenge; it's no ordinary technology feature. Great design and engineering just aren't enough for this kind of problem. FSD requires tons of real-world data collection, and the beta is a way to scale that up. But, Tesla must still be careful. There's no perfect way to do that, but Tesla is at least trying.
We're participating in an amazing revolution of autonomous driving technology. I think it's really cool to get to personally experience this in its early days, contribute a tiny bit with my driving data, and watch it improve over time. We'll get there!
