Adding Battery Capacity

I wonder what the feasibility is for Nissan to add additional battery capacity to this platform using the current chemistry. With the battery cost suggested to be around $9,600 I would consider spending another $5k for an addt'l 50% capacity given the suggested retail around $20k (after Fed & CA rebates). A 150 mile battery pack would take care of 99.9% of my driving needs.

100 miles is compromise after a Tesla range
Tesla has to have a HUGE range advantage over other EVs in a similar class. I do not consider Volt in the same group but others will. Infiniti will definitely be in the same class as Model S.

They have got to use cutting edge battery technology or at the very least offer it to prospective Model S and BlueStar owners.

BTW, I got an email from Nissan. Apparently everyone else is getting the same mail.

Nissan will send a mail between 1 & 6 PM (eastern) on 20th - that will have the link needed to preorder Leaf for $99.

Anyone got a different time in their mail ? Who else is preordering here ?
