There wasn't enough room in the "clear" space on the windshield to mount both the toll road and entry gate transponders, so I replaced the regular toll road transponder with a license plate-mounted unit, and it works fine. I actually find it to be much less intrusive that that ugly square thing stuck to the windshield. The entry gate transponder is a smaller unit, so it fit nicely on the windshield.

Thanks for the info. I will look into getting the license plate mounted unit.

The only car that I've seen that is wide enough(the booster seat could sit perfectly flat on the seat) for one of those boosters is a BMW 7 series... I hate those things, they much wider than they need to be. Does anyone make a narrow backless booster? I definitely haven't seen one at any stores around here.

Another note on booster seats... FWIW I tried out one during a test drive and it fit fine in the middle of the back seat.

A couple of recent issues came up recently. First, I had my DS over yesterday to finish the full orientation to the car because we did a very quick one on Tuesday because of my schedule. I had a bunch of questions, one of which was why my iPod didn't work when plugged into the USB port (I keep an old Nano in my car for playlists). He was quite stunned that I couldn't access my iPod from the USB port. We tried the same thing with my iPhone and Galaxy S3, and had the same result. On the Bluetooth (with the phone) it wasn't an issue, but there was no interface between the USB and accessing the media in them. My DS basically said that he hadn't noticed it before because everyone just syncs on Bluetooth, and they were told that the USB ports were functional (they did power the devices when plugged in). If this was already discussed on another thread I apologize, but is this a problem for everyone, or is it just my car? We sent an email to ownership to open a ticket, but he was genuinely surprised. Curious to hear if anyone else has experiened this.

Second issue came up is morning while running errands with my kids. I use a booster seat for my little one (he's five), but couldn't use his seat this morning because there was no way to close the seat belt. The booster seat covered the seat belt opening, and the side of the back seat was such that we could have him in the seat belt and on the seat simultaneously. I took some pics to show the issue:

For anyone with young kids, make sure to buy as narrow a booster seat as possible to try to avoid this problem, although I didn't think this booster was particularly large. I should also note that this shouldn't be an issue with the LATCH seats, just with boosters that use the regular seat belts.

It reminds me of an adult version of the "Nintendo 64" christmas morning video.

He is just as excited.

Yeah - Ray told me that Brad sort of posted it without full disclosure ... I think Ray was a bit miffed as he was quite elated, and didn't want it to look so - well - energetic. But we hung out the other day and I convinced him it was, just as NP says ... a rendition of an adult Christmas. I think he is all good with the video now. The white on white looks quite classy, BTW. Not my style at all, but very very classy.

The issue is really the seat belts -- in my old Lexus RX, the seat belt piece in the seat extended out so that I could sort of snake it from under the seat and still connect the seat belt to the piece in the seat. Here, they're inset into the base of the seat, so if the booster is covering it, there's no way to get the seat belt connected that we've been able to figure out. Once I have my rear seats this will be moot because I can put the 5 year old back there, but until then it's going to be a bit challenging to take him in the car -- probably I will put it off-center in the middle and use that seat belt, and then can only have one other kid in the car. Hopefully those rear seats come soon!

Model S unboxing.

That was a terrific video. I can understand why the owner might have been a little embarrassed by the video initially, but I guarantee that I will be at least that giddy when I take delivery of mine.

White/White looks absolutely incredible, IMO. My friend got a Signature Performance in White/White/CF and I almost fell over from how gorgeous it was.

Sorry to ask this here, but i wasnt sure where else i could. But, i ordered my car with the silver performance wheels , the 21" ones, and since i am getting the performance model, and the gray are a no cost option, would it be aot of work to switch to the gray wheels? or would i have to do a lot of paper work again?

Contact your Product Specialist and ask about it. It probably requires updating the MVPA (since the one you signed specifies the wheels). It's not very difficult to do if you're doing the electronic signatures, although I suspect that Tesla is trying to discourage a lot of churn among such options.

It should not be a big deal to change them. I changed from grey to silver. However, I was told by my rep yesterday that the grey wheels were one of the items, like the spoiler, that had been in short supply.

Depends how far your car is from construction. Talk to your Tesla contact.

Maybe the oldest Tesla convert at 95 years young turning 96 on November 19th. Grandma says I quote "This is fantastic". I apologized to grandma first and pressed the pedal lightly. Her response "This is like a roller coaster".

After three days with the car, I would make one suggestion to everyone. Buy the biggest battery you can afford. It's so much fun to step on it your battery usage can be a little higher than expected.

Congrats! That's the same configuration I locked in last month. Jan-Feb is going to seem like an eternity, so please post lots of pics!
What are your impressions now seeing the black+black+grey in person?

EarlyAdopter: I know that red is the most popular Sig color, and even though I paid the price for red, I picked Black, knowing it would be awesome, especially with the grey wheels….and it is!! You will not be disappointed with your choice. I think that black also helps harmonize the various black and grey body pieces that are common to all Model S bodies. It would also help camouflage any gap issues between body panels…not that this is an issue with my car.

Wow, that is a beauty! I'm a huge fan of black for the Model S for all the reasons you listed. Congrats!

I just signed my contract this week and I also chose black (with black leather). I probably won't get my car until late March or April but at least I know that I'm in the queue.
