Plaid Sport Bucket Seats

Took delivery this morning. Seats are fantastic. Bolstering is just enough to be functional but not bolstered like proper bucket seats, which is nice.

Are the back seats actually more bolstered? Or just the same seats from before with black/alcantara-like inserts?

For what's its worth, I was at the local Service Center yesterday (20-Apr-2024) and asked about the new Plaid Seats. Service tech responded that they heard they were going to be available as a retrofit. Didn't know the price, but estimated at least $4000 each. Availability unknown

I'll be at a SC tomorrow to check out the CT and while I'm there I'll look into this as well and report back.

Based on the tesla renders on the build configurator, the alcantara bits are still black on the black seats

These seats are so cool, takes the Plaid to an even better place. Especially at current prices…

Ahhh that's what was missing. Now the carbon fiber accents on the Plaid make sense! Well done Tesla!!

Small refinements like this up and down the line will reinvigorate interest until full refresh.

It depends on the lumbar support, how much can you adjust it and the side supports, are they adjustable? The current plaid seats don't have enough low back support even with the lumbar adjustment. I would need to sit in these seats and see how they feel along with adjustments to make a decision if I would want them. They look cool, but are they adjustable enough, we are all different sizes. The current M4 BMW bucket is much better than the current Plaid seats, much more adjustable to fit.

Spent all day at the SC as there was an event. Chatted with the Service dept and manager. They are all aware of the new seat requests and said that a retrofit should be very likely.

"The request for the new seats have been overwhelming so they're figuring things out right now... we should know soon."

are there any other areas of the Plaid S with the new sport seats that have alcantara anywhere else (ie, headliner, dash, door cards, etc)? Or is this alcantara only on the seats?

I would figure it should at least be as much as the prior generation. So all pillars and headliners at least

seems like they’re similar but not quite identical (even excluding the alcantara bits).
