Professional Dual Dashcan Installation in Southern California?

Hi everyone,

I am interested in installing a Blackvue dual dash cam but I am afraid I am going to mess up my Tesla if I try to do it myself. Does anyone have any recommendations for any
reasonably priced professional installers in the Southern California area? Thanks in advance.

Any Al & Ed's is good or just the one in West Hollywood?

After getting coffee intentionally dumped on the hood of my new S85D at the local McDonald that I go for breakfast every day, I stopped going there and got myself a Blackvue 2 channel and am looking for a good installer now after the Service Center told me they don't do it for liability reason.

Don't know why people would dump their coffee on my brand new Tesla the second day I received it. But it made me more careful where and how I use it. A dash cam definitely would make me use it more than without one.

Probably an crappy ICE car driving, jealous Tesla-hater. I am also worried about crappy SoCal drivers in the rain. Already got rearended in my Odyssey minivan with the driver driving off and got stuck with the collision deductible.

Did you buy the 2ch Blackvue on line or does Al and Ed's sell it?

Bought one from Amazon. Not a Prime member; did not want to try Prime for free shipping. So I chose free 2-day shipping to a local lockbox. However, received the email that it is at the lockbox ready for pickup in the same day. Al and Ed's may carry it or may not. But with Amazon's amazing service I recommend you just get it there.

When I came out to my S85D after breakfast that day and noticed the spots across the front hood I thought gee I never got bird poops on my car like this: so many spots starting from front bumper across the whole hood to the windshield. Not until half day later I concluded it's coffee (with cream) that is sprayed to my Tesla.

Thanks for the advice on getting it from Amazon. I am an Amazon Prime member so will try to get it from them. There is a thread on a do it yourself installation of the Blackvue but I am worried I would somehow
mess up my new Tesla trying to save the installation fees. According to my delivery specialist, I should be getting my 90D within the next 2 weeks! So excited to join the Tesla owner family!

Make sure you purchase from an authorize reseller on Amazon or else Blackvue won't accept the warranty: http://www.blackvue.com/distributors/

Here is my review of the DR650GW-2CH: Blackvue - The Best Dashcam? - YouTube

It's truly an amazing dashcam, I plan on making a video demonstrating the Blackvue over the cloud feature, which lets you view a live stream of your dash cam from anywhere and a receive a notification if a impact is detected.

I installed the Blackvue myself on my Acura, as the fuses were easily accessible however I am looking for a professional to install it on my Model X next month.

I went to Al & Ed's Autosound in West Hollywood this afternoon and has the Blacvue installed in a little bit less than 2 hours; cost me $150 labor plus $12 parts. I am satisfied with their work. Now I have both front and rear cameras powered up all the time (when car not driven, it activated by vibration). A little advice: not sure how much memory I need, I only got 16 GB memory card. You may want to get bigger card to start with.

Nice, did they use the power magic pro? How did they hard wire it? Using the fuse in the frunk? OBD Port? etc...

Thanks for the sharing your experience. Always good to go to a place recommended by others. I will go ahead and get the 64GB version and have it installed by the West Hollywood Al and Ed's. It's a bit of a drive from Inland Empire but worth it. Still waiting on my Tesla though... March to early April delivery estimate.

Installing a Blackvue is super easy in the Tesla (installed one in both my Teslas in about an hour) - first one took longer because I had to figure out routing. Once I figured that out, the second one took about 20 minutes.

Clip the power wire about 12" long, wire it into the little connector under your microphone grill for power. String the rear camera wiring in the trough in for the pano roof if you have one (if you don't have Pano roof, you'll have to string it along and under the trim on the drivers side. Where the rear C pillar trim mates up to the roof, string the rear wiring through it and into the trim in the hatch and along there until you place the camera in the middle. You'll have a wiring stringing from the hatch to the C pillar in the corner, but it's barely noticeable and not in the way of anything. You can't see it while driving, only when opening the hatch from the rear.

Easy as pie.

I have done it on my ICE myself but will need a professional for the Model X because of the FWD I would have to run the wires below the mats

Sounds kind of complicated to me. I am worried I will somehow mess up either the camera or worse my car. Just got my Blackvue from Amazon and I will be making an appointment with West Hollywood Al and Ed's to have them install it for me.
