It's better than no chains at all for getting traction with RWD, but as others have mentioned it isn't very useful in an understeer type incident. Should really put them on all 4.

That seems dumb. You still need the front wheels for steering and braking. If the rears have traction and the fronts lose it, seems like a formula for the car swapping ends...Tesla specifically says that they should only go on the rears to avoid damage from the chains.
