Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

It’s definitely true
Something similar to this actually happened when I ordered my performance 3. Shortly after they made the rim and brake upgrade standard and anyone who had reserved it when it wasn’t standard was credited the cost when they purchased the vehicle. If you go to the model x configuration site it now says 6 seat included which makes it standard so when we go to purchase there should be no 6,500 charge on the line that says 6 seat since it is an included option now.

Since it worked this way when argued for the 3 i have confidence it will for anyone picking up their plaid here forward.

I’d fight it.

Got my car Friday 1/7/22. Apparently the person who was assigned to could not be available to sign paperwork for delivery and it got matched to me w 128miles on odometer when receiving car. It was not washed or pre. Some grass and mild dirt footprint in carpet. The falcon wing door on passenger side had some plastic gap trim issues. Both key fobs did not pair. Already made service appt. Overall car drives nice and the rest of cosmetics issues can and will be solved
That's probably the worst panel gap I have seen! Wow!

FYI for your key fob issue - we found in the Model X Refresh Issues thread that Tesla is just delivering the cars and expecting the service center to do the initial pairing. Your key fobs should work - the manual details how to pair them with your car.

I have a Plaid 5 seater on order. I reached out to [email protected] and they are upgrading me to 6 seat for free. So 5 and 7 seat plaid orders can also email them.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out.

We will not be making the Plaid Model X in a 5 or 7 seat option. You are invited to upgrade to a 6 seat option and by doing so we’ll offer a $6,500 price adjustment (which affectively is no change in price based on what you have on order.)

Do you want to change to the 6 seat option?
Uh that is so messed up. I have a Plaid 7 seater on order. This effectively puts me in a limbo as I absolutely do not want a 6 seater. And that’d push me to a LR / 7 seater that costs more than what it’d have costed if I were to order a LR in the first place last year. I guess that also puts me to the back of the queue or something? Ridiculous.

It may also be that Tesla has moved lots of their talent and manpower to Texas to power up the new factory. After they get up and running lots of workers can help out ramping up S&X production.
I thought about this when the "announcement" was made that Austin is starting production this/next week. I get it, but man - another reason excuse for a possible delay. They should be scavenging from the 3/Y line but I'm sure they're doing likewise or backfilling from the S/X line.

So, for those of us who was paid the $6500 for a six seat configuration, are we supposed to complain to Tesla that we should be credited this amount??

Why? BMW did not give me free gas for life or oil changes on a 9-month delay getting a 6 series.
Just because BMW screwed you over doesn’t excuse tesla doing it as well. Supply chain is a poor excuse for bad customer service that many companies rely on as a crutch these days.

The way tesla is handling orders unfairly (give a really new order someone’s config who lives in same city and ordered long before) has nothing to do with supply chain - it’s just sloppiness.

Also supercharging for life of the vehicle is a perk tesla has actually done in the past where free gas for life hasn’t ever been a thing.

Also, re: keyfob, not sure if this is an issue others are running into, but my delivery specialist told me NOT to just pull the black tabs on the fob (to expose the battery to the contacts in the remote). She said to actually remove cover on the back of the remote, then remove the battery, and discard the plastic between the battery and the contact. Pulling on the tabs tears the arms off, but leaves a piece of plastic between the battery and contact, which is why pairing isn't working for people. I followed her instructions and both of my keys paired perfectly.
