that's handy to know. thanks.

doing a SYD-QLD trip starting Friday so just want to have my ducks in a row in understanding what's going on.
Dear God! OK, a public holiday weekend. That changes things slightly.

Trust range estimates in Tesla nav but not on the battery meter!

Northbound add just enough charge at Wodonga to reach Gundagai (191km) on 15% according to Tesla Nav, but stop at Tarcutta (138km) anyway. If you can charge at Tarcutta without a wait, do so. Add just enough to reach Goulburn (226km in heavy wind) on 15%.

If Gundagai actually works and isn't queueing, spend 10 minutes there too, tops, and add just enough to reach Exeter (227km in heavy wind), so you can skip the slow slog through Goulburn.

Holiday weekends are tolerable if everyone keeps their battery below 70%, but still adds enough to bunny hop one decent charging station in dead zones like Wodonga-Goulburn and Newcastle-Port Macquarie. You're more concerned about queueing than technical faults at Superchargers. Try and impress that on your compatriots if a discussion arises. Some folls need to overcharge, sure, but most don’t & just do it out of ignorance. Point out that if they're a paid-up NRMA member they can access a certain km of free emergency towing.

And use the non-Tesla chargers like Tarcutta and Taree strategically, assuming they aren't queueing with non-Teslas.

And consider leaving at an uncomfortably early hour so you can bypass the worst that the South West Slopes dead zone throws at you.

School holidays will definitely be a test. Arriving at a DC charger with low charge is not necessarily the best strategy in busy school holidays.
Are you overnighting along the way? the Charging strategy will also depend on where or if you are overnighting, whether you have "get-there-itis" or whether you are more leisurely. I agree that Newcastle-Port M will be tricky one as this section will have the greatest traffic out of Sydney including EV and the least amount of DC charging options.

Start Sydney at 100% which should give enough range to get to Tesla Port M.
You then only need to top up ONCE along the way at any of the below 👇to get to Coffs SC (PortM to Coffs is 170km)
If the wait is too long at any of them you have enough range to just drive to next DC charger till Tesla Port M- adjust charge as needed to get to Coffs SC

Tesla Newcastle - BP Karuah - NRMA Nabiac - Evie Taree - Tesla Port Macquarie
