Russia/Ukraine conflict

I'm not sure Putin cares about bond interest payments if he's threatening to nationalize all foreign businesses. Russia's credit rating is gone to shite so why bother.
Russian central bank still owns about $650B in foreign currencies stored outside of Russia. They are a net creditor meaning they are owed more than they owe (50% more). This $650B has already been frozen by sanctions. They got Russia's wallet.

And they'll keep it as Ukraine will need it all to rebuild. Russia will be Iraq 2.0.

Yip. It sems they have two choices to western banks: China or crypto, both of which can take out their entire economy with any single month-long downturn. These are terrible alternatives.

I really think Putin is regretting the whole damn invasion. It looks like he won't get what he after (land buffer between Russia and NATO) and in fact will either get crushed in another arms race or have to pay reparations to Ukraine (or maybe both).

Not sure any brokerage firm has a clue what the outlook for this war crime is, but maybe a different insight into what is going on.

In all this and most others commentary people may be ignoring what may be the most intractable problem for Putin's Russia now.
That is lack of developers and other IT professionals. By one reliable source I am informed that some half million have already emigrated and as many more may do so soon. A huge proportion of Russia's expertise has dual nationality. This problem is critical right now and is impairing ever military and economic sector.

This, to the extent that it is true, is inhibiting every single component of human activity that is dependent on automation even computerized records.
The consequences are already obvious, are they not?

Thus far communication links are still functioning, including internet. Messaging to/from Russia still works quite normally.
What will happen when some node, somewhere breaks?

Wild Kremlin TV Hosts Threaten the U.S. with Nuclear Strikes

Some wild and outlandish claims in what they are selling to their populace. We can’t back down. After reading the Twitter feed of Kamil Galeev and his explanation of the internal Russian thought process, I feel like we have to break through this fog and the only way is to defeat them.

That is confounding, Hambling said, because the drones should be easy for the Russians to blow out of the sky — or disable with electronic jamming.

“It is literally a World War I aircraft, in terms of performance,” he said. “It’s got a 110-horsepower engine. It is not stealthy. It is not supersonic. It’s a clay pigeon — a real easy target.”

This 6th of the FSB letters is a supposed FSB outline of long term purpose and objectives of the Ukraine invasion. It is thought provoking. At least interesting to consider where it is or will be wrong.

The FSB letter basically lays out a pretext to go to war with all of the West.

Is Putin that stupid? He can barely handle what is going on in Ukraine. NATO would wipe Russia out in a conventional war, and that therefore means we are talking about a Nuclear conflict. Would his inner circle really risk a Nuclear Holocaust?

If there is any truth to this, it would be pure insanity on the part of the Russians. Do they really think they are in any position to invade the west? Do they think that airstrikes into NATO countries would not elicit a response from NATO? I can only think that NATO would be forced to neutralize Russian strike capability via conventional means. With the whole world hoping that Russia wouldn't respond to this with nuclear weapons. Regardless, if Russia thinks this is World War 3, NATO best be preparing for this now and ready to meet the threat.
