Im confused. Was GAAP net income -(0.26) or $0.05? I'm hearing two different numbers...

Me too. I see several people quoting a GAAP profit of 5 cents, but all I see in the 8k is a GAAP loss of 26 cents per share.

I can't even concentrate on reading the shareholders letter! The aftermarket numbers keep jumping and CNBC keeps saying something about Tesla every few minutes!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they did this intentionally; spread the surprises out more evenly across the quarters. Watch for Q3 earnings report -- I bet they'll bump the number up then.

I really dont hope we get another SPWR on that. If they estimated even 22k delivered this year, it would be so much better.

The supply constrainst might really make that unwise right now. They can always raise it when they have better visibility to the supply chain.

GAAP was -$(0.26) and non-GAAP excl. Lease Accounting was $0.20 (the same way I calculated non-GAAP and the same way Wall St. will be doing it starting next quarter. I was a little ahead of the times here).

But Tesla gave a non-GAAP number incl. lease accounting and the was the $0.05, since Wall St. was including this in their non-GAAP calcs. Tesla told them that going forward they will not be using this number and Wall St. will have to adjust (meaning higher EPS revisions).

30% of vehicles delivered took advantage of financing option. Surprised that isn't more? If interest rate is only 3% (?) and you can obviously get a greater return than that just from TSLA, why wouldn't more people use the financing option?

Options-wise tomorrow is going to be all about timing the sell of your calls... Man this is going to be nerve-racking. It will be a potentially risky game trying to hit the peak, will have to sell in portions. I'm glad there's no after-market for options. I have instructed my wife and family that I need some alone-time in front of the computer when the market opens tomorrow at 3.30 PM local time here. Working night at the hospital now, on call, hope nothing much happens for the next two hours so I can listen to the entire call real time...

From the newsletter it sounds like the -.17 is comparable to the 0.05 reported including lease financing.

Tesla did 5 cents vs. -20 cents analyst consensus!

EDIT: or 5 cents vs. -17 cents (depending on the source of the consensus)
