This email, to me, is a farce and a total cya maneuver ahead of pointed questions The Street is going to be asking Elon about artificially inflating Q3 numbers in order to jump start investment on the Model 3 (which we all know is exactly what happened). You're going to tell me that Elon Musk, a guy who couldn't be more involved in the day to day operations of his company, didn't know massive discounts were being applied on "new" cars, "new inventory cars" and other cars with 50 miles or less on them...? C'mon . That's just a bold-faced lie. And to throw his employees under the bus is even more disingenuous.

I will say, however, it's got me thinking as to whether or not he's actually going to prevent future "super deals" from coming to fruition and if I made a mistake going 24mo and hoping for another bonanza in 2 years' time instead of locking up my bad-boy for an additional year.... hmmm...

In two years you might be able to buy and sell for a profit. Or lease the latest and greatest. Or they might offer a continuation for you

I wouldn't worry about it. Regardless of what happens, you got a great deal on your car. I had planned to buy one "Built" off the website next year anyway, this is just a big bonus for me. Try it out for two years at a huge price cut! If I love it, maybe I'll just buy it, or maybe I'll buy the latest tech. I'd bet "100D" is the new standard next year anyway. I was able to convince my neighbor to pick up one of the P90DLs from Pensylvania (I think it was around 27k off) because he had been pining for one... his delivery will be late on friday night. Talk about cutting it close! I picked mine up on wednesday.

I could use 1 more referral to get some swag if anyone needs one! http://ts.la/john4335

Thank you all for helping me get into one of these fine vehicles!

Well it is the last day of the quarter, for Tesla and my company so that means fun times trying to get contracts through. Still waiting on a delivery date but talked to @SoCal Jimmy guy and Tesla Financign and they said I am in the clear. Also @SoCal Jimmy originally Kevin forgot to get your code in so that is now fixed and my monthly payments have dropped to $583 a month due to it. The unknown regarding delivery date is driving me nuts since Oct is very busy for me with travel so I am trying to get them to work with me about waiving the delivery fee since this is on them. ::fingers crossed:: This thread was super helpful in getting me to spend money and get a car I am sure I will love, so thanks for that @SoCal Jimmy and everyone else who posted deals like @RK9090 who gave me mine

Really happy you got in on the deal. Blue paint with those dark rims looks great. Maybe I'll see you at the Columbus service center... I'll hopefully be picking my inventory P90D up there some time next week as well. And hats off to Socal Jimmy for bringing this to the forefront. I got the car of my dreams within my budget!

Apparently my car is in MI being used by Tesla attorneys either lobbying or fighting the MI law they said it will be shipped to Chicago so I asked them to ship it to Tampa instead for free due to all the trouble. If they don't i said to throw in some free additional swag for the trouble, hey gotta try right ;). Apparently Chicago is closer than Columbus and I have never been to Chicago, but have been to Columbus actually. We would like to make it a nice through the bourbon trail if we do "need" to drive the car. There goes about 1,600 miles in one weekend

Blue was my first choice, I wanted brown interior but not going to complain. Congrats on picking yours up next week!

Congrats again everyone! It's been a hell of a couple weeks for everyone.

Lot's of deals were had and who knows, maybe in September of 2018, we'll be in a similar thread choosing our P100 or P120D's by then :)

Thanks @GTIceman, i do see the referral now!

Thank you again, Jimmy for the intro to Kevin. Took delivery this morning, went back tonight to re-sign my docs because I changed my mind and went with a 36mo lease. Kevin was there and we got to share in the craziness of the day. Even after signing everything this morning they had no problems making the change. That's Tesla. And that's why I love this company!

I bought a "Big 3" low-end car, last day of July, at a dealership (for a family member).
Was on a Saturday and they all promptly left and closed the door at their 5pm closing time. No overtime, no extra hours spent.

I doubt the Tesla service center guys would stay to midnight but it was important to do as many deliveries in Q3 as possible. Will it ever happen again? Hard to know. It will be quite a sales number for Q3 for Tesla based on the prior sales quarters. Can it occur again in Q4? If no discounting is allowed, then to skirt that issue, it is probable that all new cars that are placed in inventory will be driven a few hundred miles in order to facilitate some discounting to get some deals made. The $7500 "still in Fremont" discounts are probably gone for a while. Perhaps it leads to a widespread price cut?

@GTIceman: we're on the edge of our seats....did everything work out ok? :)

Still have no delivery date. I knew I wouldn't hear from Kevin or my delivery specialist yesterday after I talked to Kevin on Thursday. He is working on getting the car "ready for transport" I told him get them to waive the shipping and send it here. We are waiting to see what he comes up with. October is rough for me with work and personal travel so I only really have one weekend to fly to Chicago to pick up the car if need be.
