So, Just hung up from an unexpected and very interesting phone call from Tesla

Point taken, but I don't have a "conclusion". I shared the call and made a hypothesis. Other people, including you, have a different hypothesis (fine!) and since none of us work for TSLA and have access to their internal metrics, we just don't know.

Come on, this board is made of amazing people. And it's also made of fanboys who act just like Apple fanboys, which means, you cannot have a dissenting vote without being crushed by the mob. I really don't mind. It's adorable and the passion is real.

And, I'm long TSLA stock, again, I AM LONG TSLA STOCK! I don't know how much more I can say it. I'm not a short. For my own selfish capitalist reasons, I want TSLA to go UP.

Lastly, and i mean it, if you think this thread is affecting TSLA stock movement, you don't understand how this works. The FOOL, by the way, ended with this sentence...
For the record, I believe what you are saying (esp. given others have reported similar calls), in case that is not clear.

I should point out that the push back is not from "fanboying," but from distrust of new members. If you were an established member here and made the exact same post, the reaction would not be the same.

Times are different from when I joined (back in the Roadster days), when there was no reason not to trust new members. I think things started to change around 2013 when the stock exploded, and over the last few years shorters felt the need to come here to make threads in an effort to drive pessimism in Tesla. It is irrelevant that most of the time it doesn't effect the stock, just that there are shorters out there that feel it is worthwhile to try (on the off chance that it does).

I think most people believe that call happened. Some (strongly) disagree with OP's opinion on why Tesla was reaching out (desperation).
One reason for "Meet Model X" was and is to get buyers to configure. The Tesla Motors Product Specialists from other Tesla Stores were on deck to assist, and were pleased at the number of reservation holders who would configure on the spot.

This had to be one time where the process felt a bit like a regular auto dealership, but without the hard sale tactics. Just a gentle push to help everyone make up their mind as soon as possible on what choices they need to select.

When I see the high and low VIN numbers on some of the other threads, IMHO, this has to be driving Tesla Motors a bit crazy. I wouldn't doubt they feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland. While it seems like yesterday when I configured mine, it has been over six months ago!

The call was real. My business partner got the call (I heard it from him before I saw this board) and he has no interest in the stock. Moreover, he is neither a fanboy - or even an internet nerd who posts on forums.

In his case, he was a very early reservation (<1000), had been to the Meet the X event, was in California and had not configured.

Given the VIN count and delivery estimates (90D in the 3000's being delivered to WA in March?!?), it seems clear to me that the simplest answer is the likely one -- Tesla solved a manufacturing hiccup and are now able to produce Model X at a 500-1000/week rate.

Unfortunately, for some of those with earlier VINs, their cars are likely still being manually finished (e.g., the manual work on the windshield seals referenced in the quarterly call).

Hard to see the evidence, but I'm guessing they're also slowing down slightly on Model S to deal with the X backlog.

I think the push is all driven to get more X's on the road. That is the best way to drive interest from the community of both reservation holders and non reservation holders. Once these cars become something you can see on a fairly regular basis the world will see them as something achievable and accessible rather than an experimental car.

As was pointed out by many, the FWD are going to be like beacons for potential buyers. Tesla needs to get them flapping.

It's like a cheap version of the Model S referral program.

Exactly. Word of mouth. Every time the public sees an X open its wings at soccer practice, grocery store parking lot, school pickup/drop off, it's +1 for awareness of the brand. +10 if the person is curious enough to engage the owner. +100 if the person goes online to learn more about the car. And then there's the flood of youtube videos and Facebook posts. If Model S was about insane and ludicrous launches, Model X is about smiling children in carseats and family road trips.

Hmm...low post count, overwhelmingly positive stance towards Tesla, ignoring multiple other posts that corroborate the OP's story...red flag!!

Folks, I believe we have a TSLA investor here who's just trying to spread positive information to make the stock rise

What does my low post count have to do with anything? Sorry I'm not on the forums all day.

I am indeed a Tesla investor and a Model X reservation holder. Guess that's a red flag on a Tesla enthusiast forum....

It was a joke. We have a tendency on this site to notice people with low post counts who suddenly hop on with 'bad' news as shorts attempting to get the stock to drop on bad news so they can cover their shorts. The post you quote was turning that knee-jerk reaction on its ear.

The Model S was about family road trips long before there was insane and ludicrous launches. Remember the northern cross-country supercharger route was built first so Elon could rise his family on that road trip.

Yes, but the majority of the videos on youtube and social media from the last year are of insane and ludicrous launches (which are fun to watch but admittedly getting old). Falcon wing doors, the massive front windshield, bioweapon defense mode, and the general family friendliness of the Model X are what will keep Tesla fresh for the next year.
