Op 2 maart aanstaande woon ik een kennisavond bij met Niklas Gustavsson van Spotify als spreker. Als jullie specifieke vragen hebben, zou ik ze kunnen proberen voor te leggen. Graag met de stappen om de issues te reproduceren, ik krijg pas a.s. zaterdag mijn S dus kan ik niet alles zelf ontdekken voor die tijd ben ik bang.
Het onderwerp: Spotify – audio delivery at scale
Spotify has long used what is now known as a microservice architecture. Its backend consists of hundreds of services, small and single purpose. It has allowed a continuous evolution of the Spotify feature set and has supported scaling out to supporting now more than 75 million users.
This talk will go into detail on how a Spotify service works and how the UNIX philosophy of composing components that does a single thing well, works on a greater scale. We’ll cover common patterns for, for example, service discovery and storage. And, when beating the speed of light requires extending outside of the Spotify backend into an intricate set of content delivery techniques.

Ik werk in Leidschendam op het moment (tot en met de 29e), krijg a.s. zaterdag mijn S. Je zou het kunnen filmen inderdaad (of is je eerdere film al voldoende om het te reproduceren) of we kunnen ergens afspreken?
Dat herken ik, de eerste zoekopdracht (met de stem of handmatig) geeft altijd die melding bij mij na het starten van de Tesla, vanaf de tweede keer en volgende keren gaat het dan wel weer goed. Beetje vervelend, maar bij een volgende update zal dat wel weer in orde zijn.

Helemaal goed, ik wacht het af. Overigens weet ik niet of Spotify zelf de app maakt of Tesla, maar ook dat is een vraag die op mijn lijstje staat. Dus of deze meneer antwoorden zal hebben weet ik niet, maar mogelijk kunnen we contact informatie uitwisselen en zo een ingang krijgen ergens.
Zo, met de laatste update lijkt de verbinding/inlog met je eigen premium account inderdaad een stuk stabieler geworden. Blijven wat mij betreft nog deze 'bugs' openstaan. Wellicht heeft iemand daar nog een aanvulling op? Ik zal het dan doorsturen naar Tesla (daarom gelijk maar vast in het Engels opgesteld) en kan Ivo het op 2 maart ook nog even aankaarten.
Stations
They are stored independent of the use of my own Spotify account (both with my own Spotify account as with the Tesla's Spotify account: the same stations are shown.)
I also cannot clean up this list
There is no support for folders in Playlists, however the contents of my Playlist folders *are* shown in the Tesla. So all playlists are there, but just not categorised in folders as I have it in my Spotify account.
Albums
The sorting of albums is not like in the Spotify iPhone app, this seems randomly?
Songs
On the Tesla much, much more songs are shown then I saved myself in my Spotify account.
Where do they come from, is this list automatically generated from all saved albums and stations? This is not how it works in Spotify on the desktop/app.
Artists
Idem as with songs
Addition: perhaps the most annoying bug is:
* The Tesla Spotify app does not automatically sync (e.g. new or updated playlists) with your Premium Spotify account.
Only when you log out and in again (or reset the console screen which probably does the same)
Op 1 of andere manier logged mijn Spotify helemaal niet meer in. Console reset geprobeerd, premium account geprobeerd, standaard acccount herstelt, WiFi geprobeerd, 4G hotspot geprobeerd - niks werkt en krijg constant een "ERR LOGGING IN".
Meer mensen met deze problemen en iemand misschien een fix? Zit op de laatste firmware (.126)

Het was een zeer interessante avond, als je van round-robin DNS, Cassandra, Java, services, servicebusses, en back-end infra houdt en verstand hebt.
Niklas was een architect voor de backend, en niet echt met de client applicaties bezig. Hij gaf aan wat voorwerk voor de Tesla samenwerking te hebben gedaan maar dat het vooral andere teams waren die Tesla helpen/ondersteunen. De back-end is in principe backwards compatibel tot aan de allereerste client zo'n beetje.
De Tesla issues gaf hij aan vooral bij de Tesla ontwikkelaars te liggen, heel af en toe gebeurt er iets op de back-end (zoals gisteravond bijv.) waardoor er op de clients problemen optreden, maar dan treft het meestal meerdere platformen, niet alleen Tesla of Sonos bijvoorbeeld.
Helaas heb ik dus geen antwoorden op de vragen die wij hadden, maar ik heb wel zijn contact gegevens, ik ga hem de vragen mailen en hopen dat hij die aan de juiste Spotify collega's kan voorleggen, als zij überhaupt al iets kunnen betekenen in de Tesla app ontwikkeling door Tesla.
