I’m assuming demand for the SR+ must be really strong in Canada. Otherwise why would Tesla increase the price and make it no longer eligible for the $5K rebate?

It is still covered by the rebate. 55990 includes $1,280 destination and documentation fee, so still under 55K overall...

It didn't take Doug Ford long to eliminate the provincial one so I would count on it lasting too long

If I were you I'd order sooner rather than later. Especially if you've made up your mind you want to buy, there is only risk of it costing more down the road....If anything changes then at least you would be grandfathered in.

Politician's aren't that reliable, but so far, Cons have just said that they would remove the rebate for businesses. But I wouldn't rely on that

I thought it takes time before the winning party holds office?

Wait till the result of the elections.. they will usually give you a couple of weeks before announcing the cancellation

Haven't seen it mentioned here but the liberal platform also included extending the incentive to used EVs, at 10% up to max of $2,000. Of course not everything in the platform will get implemented, but that should be fairly easy for NDP to support as it makes EVs more accessible for those on lower incomes. For current owners, it would probably give a boost to resale values.
