Summon failure - sudden turn as reversing out of garage crushed mirror

Oh! It hurts.. just to see the photo that OP posted. Summon has been working pretty well for me lately. I always back out of my garage with Summon. But I am always standing a few feet away with my finger on the keyfob. In other words, I love it; but I don't trust it.

Nicki is blind to the side from the front of the doors to the back of the doors while using summon. The cameras are not used, only the sensors in the bumpers.

I've been using Summon with my new X (my S didn't have the feature). I realize this is an S thread, but I wonder if the X also uses the sensors in the sides of the falcon wing doors? If so, that may make it a bit more reliable in this regard.

I would be less twitchy about Summon if it had a "Don't play with the steeering, just drive straight out" option - this would be for garages and parking spaces.

I didn't know this! I always thought Summon would only just drive straight forward or back - I didn't realize it could turn the wheel. Thanks.

This is a very real phenomenon and still occurs on latest software. Both Model S and Model 3. It's actually pretty frequent for me.

I went back to summoning out of garage keeping a careful eye out. It appeared to start turning the wheel one time but I had my finger on the trigger to stop it dead in it's tracks
