Supercharger - Escanaba, MI

I passed through Escanaba today and made a pass through the parking lot to see the chargers for myself. There were
two trucks on site from Wright electric, but at first I didn't see anyone around. I noticed the door to the transformer was
open, and as I looked closer (look under the white door in the last picture) I could see a foot of someone who was working
on it, with bits of wire laying around, so I'm assuming he was hooking it up! I called out but there was no response, and I didn't
want to interrupt this very important work. Hopefully it won't be long now...

To be clear those are cabinets not transformers. Transformers are green and have cooling fins on them usually.

It should be done by then. If not, you could always charge at the hotel (Quality Inn ?) that has 2 destination chargers. Spacious lobby with free wifi.

No seriously, you should figure out how to do a little "off the supercharger highway" travel (if necessary).

Yeah I could stay at the hotel with the level 2 chargers but then would need to stay there for hours to charge or overnight robbing of us of time in munising/lakeshore.

Just got word back from a Tesla employee that services SCs in Minnesota. He told me the plan is to have Esky and Marquette online this week. Soo would come online at another time:

One of the sites is not completed enough for them to make the trip out. Sounds like they will not be activating these. May be delayed till July.

My guy said there is a push to get a ton across the country done by 7-2. So we will see if they are online next week.

For sure. It's a double-witching - they're pushing to open all of the Q2 locations in addition to getting as many open as possible for the holiday weekend.

Interesting. I looked at supercharge.info to see all the construction sites In the USA. A big bunch in California where many holiday charging complaints originate. I could easily understand all the Tesla staff just working on those for the Holiday.

It would be very nice to have Escanaba open by July 2, but I think it’s a stretch for the U.P.. There are a lot of driving miles and time needed to physically get to sites in the Upper Penisula (U.P.).

I don’t think sites can be activated just using remote access.

July 1 would be ideal. I will be through town about 3 PM on July 1st and would really like to charge there for 25 min vs a couple hours at the hotel. On the way to Mackinaw.

I learned this weekend that the existing concrete pad with wooden posts and metal cross bar just to the north of the new fenced in pad for the Superchargers is a hitching post. I'm enjoying the range of uses for this section of the Meijer parking lot with the hitching post, MDOT carpool parking, and new Superchargers!

I believe the signs say "Vehicle Charging Only" but I don't have a clear photo. I can look this weekend when I'm in Esky.

Usually the signs for general parking/charging with a time limit have the time limit shown in a white circle.
