Supercharger - Framingham, MA - Worcester Road

A permit has been found for a new 12 stall supercharger coming to the Aloft Hotel in Framingham with an address of 130 Worcester Rd (Rt 9), Framingham, MA 01702.

Permit #BLD223021 was recently issued.

At this time, it's not clear if this project replaces the Old Path Village location or if it's in addition.

The other site has been permitted (971 Concord instead of the original 969) - so this is a second planned new supercharger in Framingham.

That is so weird, again given how congested all that area is. It would be so much better for traveling if they put one of these an exit west on the Pike, perhaps near the Framingham Sheraton.

I don't think this is necessarily Tesla saying they want to put one there - it's more likely Marriott requesting one.

Stopped by today - no markings yet that I could see.

So, swung by again today - no changes/markings, but this primary conduit going up the pole (that was there last time I swung by) is almost certainly where it's going...

Here we go! The nearby Old Path Village site has Gordon markings and dig safe flags too. I'll bet this site, and perhaps the other site as well will start next week.

I'm surprised. There's already an SC in Shoppers World, which is less than a mile away. Now there's this, and I see talk of one at Old Path Village, which is just as close.

As happy as I am to see more SCs, check the map - this cluster of 3 is very tight. We could use some SCs to fill in gaps on the map, such as Greenfield or Williamstown.

New supercharger sites are always a balance between Tesla picking sites to fill in gaps and host site requests. I assume this location at the Aloft hotel is a host site request - the other... unclear but wouldn't rule it out. The area definitely needs more supercharger capacity as the existing V2 Framingham site is full frequently with waits and of course is only getting busier as the fleet grows.

I definitely agree with those two holes you pointed out needing to be filled though.

Nothing happening yet at the Concord St site other than a relocated dumpster and maybe some changes in were some of the overnight commercial vehicles are parking.

A site update from this evening

Not a huge amount of progress since last week. Some conduit in the trench and more equipment onsite. The amount of Tesla equipment here is more than this site needs, so they are probably staging some equipment for th Concord St supercharger project a few miles away.

Concrete pour completed over the conduit. A little pavement according in preparation for pedestal work.

Some progress as of Wed 4/12/23. The previous trench has been backfilled, and a new trench has been cut in the pavement. The previous trench now seems to be for the feed from the pole to the south side of the project where the supercharger equipment pad will be located. They've started assembling the form for that pad already (last picture). The new trench will be for the conduit feeding the supercharger posts. It looks like about half the supercharger cabinets have left the scene - not sure where they went (they are not at the nearby Concord St project).

Forms and conduit for superchargers, switchgear and transformer well underway. Conduit and supercharger post feeds appear nearly done too. Probably getting ready for another concrete poor.

Looks like there has been an initial concrete poor to fill the supercharger pad and post conduits. Getting there.

Coming along nicely. Interesting slope to the sidewalk leading to a slight gap under the posts to have them level. Concord St location starting in a couple of days.

This site is done other than a meter and possibly some lighting which is on the ground behind the supercharger cabinets. Didn’t look to see if the primary wiring to the transformer was in.
