Great news, and thanks for the pics. This SC showed up in navigation this morning, so I did a quick check of the Houston -> Greenville, GA supercharger route (for my 19" P85). I was amused to see that I'd be passing through Albert Lea, MN on the way...
I don't know if this is just a beta software "funny" or a case where the current routing software is written so conservatively that the Slidell, LA SC is required to make that a feasible route (as far as the algorithm is concerned, at any rate).
I've not driven that route yet, but I think you'll be fine only if you keep your speed down to 65mph or less, which wil be hard to do on that highway. When I drive that route this summer in my 60 I plan a long stop at the CHAdeMO in New Orleans. I think you should plan for at least a short stop. Or you could consider timing it to stay overnight at the Best Western in La Place, LA which has HPWCs.I noticed something similar. Evtripplanner is routing my 85D through Wisconsin when I look up the trip from Baton Rouge to Mobile and choose "route through SC". When I choose "route direct", EVTP estimates a 67.3kWH usage which the 85D should comfortably make. Could someone who had driven this Baton -> Moblie (or Mobile -> Baton) route comment on their experience? I'm planning a Phoenix to Orlando trip this summer and Tesla/EVTP both say this is not doable. My guess is, with a range charge, I should be fine. Thanks.

I should mention that you can create an EVTripplanner route manually by using route direct and then selecting each en-route SuperCharger and clicking the "Charge Here" button. Once you're done, the Steps and Details tabs give you the same kind of results as the automatic plans.
Thanks, I just tried it out and it's a nice feature. I'm guessing/hoping someone else has run these SCs and if no one reports on it before I attempt in late June then I'll pass along the info.
I have to say that on my return trip from New Jersey I arrived at the Mobile, AL supercharger a little after midnight on Friday night and this site is poorly lit at that hour. All of the mall parking lot lights are off and the only lighting is from the street lights which are some distance away from the actual chargers. The lights from the charging pedestals and the Tesla logos probably offer the most lighting.
It didn't really bother me (I got about a 40 min. nap in the car while charging) but I could see where it might make some users uncomfortable charging here late at night.

I wanted to comment on my return trip and experience my second time here. I charged at noon on a Tuesday. There was already another unoccupied MS in one of the stalls. I decided to leave my family at a nearby mall to do some shopping while I charged. I saw one car drive a circle around the SC checking the two MS's out but it did not stop. After about 5 minutes the owner of the other MS came back to his car with his son. We spent a few minutes discussing the normal stuff about how we love these cars, where we were headed, etc and he mentioned how he was approached by a man in a car just before I arrived. I mentioned my experience and he had the same general feeling about his experience as I had with mine a few weeks earlier. He was done charging and left a few minutes after we started talking, so I was there alone. I decided (AND MY RECOMMENDATION FOR ANYONE CHARGING HERE IS TO DO THE SAME) to walk over to Target and hang there for the duration of the charge. If you are not by your car, you can't be approached. If I end up at this SC in the future, I'll be at Target again for sure and I'll make sure I time it so it is during business hours. Happy travels everyone.
