At the Intersection of US-50 and US-285. Allowing more trips away from Interstates.

2nd Supercharger along US-285, the other being Fort Stockton, TX. Google-fastest route to Fort Stockton, TX is 627 miles, almost entirely on US-285. At the rate things are happening, this one could end up being open faster than Fort Stockton, TX. :p

Hah! Does seem likely the way things are going at Fort Stockton...

The connection with Grand Junction will be a lot easier once the Montrose Supercharger Station is built. For now there is reliable L2 charging available in Montrose. There is also a camping loop with 14-50 pedestals in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park for those interested in making that short side trip for a night (that loop is closed in winter, although at 8000 feet it is a bit cold and snowy in winter anyway).

The connection with the Santa Fe Supercharger Station will be helped a lot when the Alamosa Supercharger Station is built, and that one will also open up Great Sand Dunes National Park.

I drove by the site today and construction has started.

No Tesla Crates! However, I know this is the site. This is the address on the permit. I talked with the owner of the property a few weeks ago and he pointed out the exact location of the Supercharger. Construction just began this week as I was there one week ago, and there was no sign of construction. I will continue to keep a watchful eye over the progress and post pictures of the progress as I live about 30 miles from the site.

Thanks, @enniplace. I can hardly wait: we used to drive through there all the time, but have to go up to I-70 now (from Ouray County). This will save us time and miles, and it's a more scenic drive, too. Appreciate these posts keeping us updated! We'd come in for any Grand Opening ceremony Tesla might do, so please post if you hear anything on that.

My family got stuck in a snowstorm last winter and actually camped out at the airport supercharger and my wife still complains about waking up freezing and having to turn the heat back on, camper mode will be most welcome here too!

I stopped by the site today and took a few pictures to show the progress. There were 6 workers on site. The lead electrician told me that they should be pouring concrete next week and that they may have one or two pedestals up by the end of next week. The weather forecast looks to be good through next week so they should continue to make good progress.

I could be wrong, but the orientation of the concrete pads does not appear to be set up for pull-through (trailer towing) charging. With all the great camping in this area, a trailer-friendly SC would have been nice.
With that said, I am really fired up about a SC on the US 285 and US 50 corridors!

@ancreserve, I hope that I haven’t given you a false sense of projected progress for the site. We really only have eight working days at most before Thanksgiving and I see no way for them to have it up and running by then. I think Christmas is a more realistic time frame. I have heard of some sites waiting for weeks for the transformer to be delivered, set and connected. Do have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving trip. I will continue to monitor the project and post any significant progress.
