With Abeline going live (or at least us noticing that it went live) this week, I was wondering what the status of Russell was. I just got off the phone with Roger in the the Building, Planning, & Zoning department there in Russell. Details he provided were as follows.

• Location: Sonic Drive-In
• Address: 1219 S Fossil St, Russell, KS 67665
• Permit was submitted and approved
• Construction has NOT started yet

Edit: Sonic restaurants don’t generally have public restrooms, but there is a Days Inn right next door that should have a restroom available 24 hours a day.

Thats good.. Now we either need Hays to upgrade to V3 (there is soo much space there) or add another location close to Hays. Then we can do V3 straight through KS

Checked out this location on Friday. There are a few fairly fresh utility flags in the lawn, south side of the Sonic. Don’t know if this is in connection with the installation. We also scouted around other buildings at the Russell exit. Didn’t notice anything of interest.

Good to see these going up in Kansas, some of those headwinds and crosswinds get absolutely BRUTAL on I-70 so a security blanket of chargers is always welcome!

Who are you telling. Once Oakley opens, you could possibly cut an hr and some change off the trip from one side of Kansas to the other using V3s

love it. I may still stop at Colby sometimes just because there are good food options there vs. just Sonic in Oakley and Russell but no more six stall splitting situations is HUGE

This Sonic does have a public restroom.

Good progress here in Russell. Looks like the pad has been dug for the transformer and waiting for cement. And the parking area needs paved yet.

My wife grabbed a pic on her way through today. Looks like it's really close. Unfortunately, I didn't explain to take a picture of the transformer and/or meter. She'll be back through later in the week and check for us again.
