Interesting placement
Thanks for the regular pictures. I've seen this placement recently and it seems to be when they can't (aren't allowed) to change what is behind the curb.
This type of site layout would probably allow more non-Tesla vehicles an easier reach. It also is nice that it forces spacing between cars and virtually eliminates any chance of a door ding (kids, etc). I think the bollard placement really protects the pedestal better.

The obvious downsides are a more expensive and longer install vs the pre-cast.

Oh Man! I just discovered this thread and I am super excited! My mom lives in NC, and I have been using the destination charger at the Hilton to charge up, since my Mom doesn't have a 240v outlet at the house. This is going making visiting her super easy.

I can get from Raleigh to her house on a single charge, but it doesn't leave much battery left. But I'll easily be able to get some juice quick then not have to worry about having to let my car charge for a while.

There are already superchargers just a couple of blocks off of I-85 at both Thomasville and Archdale, that may also be helpful for you.

There's also one on the south side of Lexington, but a couple of miles up on Business 85. Not as convenient, but closer to Salisbury, if you're low on charge on the way back.

yeah, you pass about 10 chargers between Raleigh and Salisbury. 40/85 is basically blanketed on that run these days.
@sam, wow, it looks like you have many options already. Below from using supercharge.info map and just adding those two towns to the 'add to route' (after search mag. glass)

How times have changed...I took my 2016 LEAF from Durham to Charlotte (and back) when there were only two viable fast charging options along the route (Nissan dealers in Salisbury & Burlington), and way back in 2012 I took my then 2012 LEAF (range <80 miles) from Wake Forest to Kernersville (west of Greensboro) with ZERO fast charging options (there were L2 charging stations at the Alamance rest stop, although I only got on the highway that day so I could access them--the rest of the time I was sticking to surface roads to extend my range).

It's an embarrassment of riches these days!
