Supercharger - South Surrey, BC - 160 Street

Found a new location for South Surrey Supercharger. Talked to some surveyors at the Walmart at 160th and 24th. They said they where planning for Tesla superchargers at the north east corner.

Wait, are you sure? There is already a Supercharger at Southpoint shopping centre beside the Save-On Foods (152 and 32nd). Maybe the Walmart is adding something else (like an Electrify Canada or BC Hydro charger?

yeah, that also does not make sense as most chargers are near a freeway interchange (32 and 152 interchanges on 99 for southpoint, 152 and 104 interchanges on #1 for the two Guildford locations). That area around the walmart parking lot and grandview corners in general is a pain to drive almost 24/7.

But southpoint was fully populated at 4:30/5 today so maybe it the closest overflow or 2nd location they could wrangle.

nothing on supercharge.info either. maybe haven't even hit the permit stage.

Construction has started and there was a Tesla construction manager there today. So new location is in the Canadian Superstore parking lot near Starbucks. Will get pictures tomorrow.

Confirmed with construction and Tesla Construction Manager there today. But is at the Superstore at 160th and 24th.

Very strange choice but nice to have more options than fewer...! Thanks for the update.

I had created a separate thread for the location at 2332 160 Street last week. I assumed it should be separate from this existing location's thread.

True. The new location is quite out of the way for travelers but given the two it makes sense--the Southpoint location will be more accessible for travelers off the 99 and the Grandview one can cater more to locals.

Couple more pics of construction as the bullards are up and can see all the conduit for the Superchargers. There are 9 along 160th st and the 3 at the end of the regular parking spots. 2 pull in and one back in. 1 is only a few spots away from the BC Hydro chargers. Maybe they will add some more hydro ones or will be neat if these are magic dock.

There is no commitment from Tesla that Magic Dock is coming to Canada anytime soon. They are only deploying in USA because they have a financial benefit to do so. Not to mention only about 10% of locations will have magic dock by end of 2024. Glad to see another location is South Surrey, the other location is busy.
