I drove by a few weeks ago and surveyed the area for a likely location for the Superchargers.

My first guess is where the yellow circle is, but there is a tall retaining wall there right in front of the parking spaces.

My second guess is where the red circle is, but there are only 7 parking spaces there, so some concrete work would need to be done.

There is a single-phase drop just east of the store and a three-phase drop at the north corner, but electrical distribution lines run along both sides and rear of the property, so supply shouldn't be a major issue regardless of location.

As an aside, I could have sworn that the original completion date was listed as 11/15/24 - I remember thinking "9 months".

Speaking of Tyler, Texas and surrounding areas...

It looks dozens of EV fast charging locations are about to pop up across the state.

Last night, I noticed an unexpected announcement for a new charging location in Kilgore, Texas.

I had hoped this would be Tesla Superchargers, but it will actually be non-Tesla fast chargers owned by Francis Energy LLC. The nearest locations owned by this company charge 52¢/kWh compared to 31¢/kWh for Superchagers in the area.

Most of these pending locations appear to be the result of Texas' NEVI program.

GM Energy is about to open a fast charging location in Tyler - just waiting on a transformer.

I was passing through the area and stopped by to take a look. It certainly possible that this is the Tesla construction location, but I don't think so. I think this is just curb rework as part of the restaurant drive-thru build. Until we see hardware going in, or at least conduits, anybody coming through here to check on construction should still look at the whole parking lot, including the area to the northeast, #1 / yellow above.

Assuming the recent construction is not related to Superchargers, I wonder if Tesla will delay or rescind this location.

The following was a reply about a different location, but the key takeaway is that sites currently under construction will be completed and Tyler may not actually be currently under (Supercharger) construction.

Was wondering about this very location when the news came out on the Supercharger team. Man, I hope you're wrong but fear you're not.

On the flip side, GM Energy Network is installing chargers 5 miles west of this location in Tyler and Francis Energy is installing chargers 10 miles east of this location in Kilgore along I-20. The GM chargers will require a CCS-to-NACS adapter. Half of the Francis chargers will have NACS connectors. So, there will eventually be other charging optional in this area even if Tesla backs out.

Stopped by here today and the construction is well under way. Four cabinets in place and the conduit and concrete work is complete. No dispensers yet. Also Starbucks looks close to opening. This will replace having to stop at the Collin Street Bakery on my trips from Oregon to New Orleans.

Also counted the stalls and could only find 15 conduit posts.

Oregon to New Orleans? WOW! Sounds like a great trip. Post a trip report one day, please! And when you get to New Orleans, don't forget to stop at Bud's Broiler. I'll take a #9 and a #2 both with onions. I always bring a couple back to Dallas for my wife, too. They nuke really well.

I'll take Lindale. Real food and coffee that isn't pretentious, doesn't taste burnt and overpriced. Although the CSB closes in the evenings, the big Convenience Store across the road is quite nice. Only REAL downside of Lindale is that it is pretty lonely and dark at night. Not as bad, perhaps, at Shreveport. If you are gonna stop there, I suggest you be strapped.

The Texas Best BBQs are pretty nice, big convenience store and daytime fresh food. Always well lit and clean restrooms.

I do like supercharger stations at CSB, too. But for me, at least, I can barely make it to Natchitoches nonstop from Lindale, which saves time if I can skip the Shreveport station and take the 3132 loop around there instead. Charging 20 miles further down the road at Tyler gives me enough buffer to make that leg without the sphincter tightening that sets in around Mansfield.

Plus Lindale gets crowded at times and will only get worse once the non-Teslas start arriving there in numbers.

Cannot wait for this station to open up.

Good point.

I've also noticed that the charging speeds there slows down a LOT when it's full/nearly full at that station, more so than at other stations.
Yeah, it can get a little pokey there. I remember being astounded at the blazing speeds when the first Hwy 75 in Dallas opened all 11 stalls. Hard to believe it's only been a little over 4 years.

On Sunday last, I peaked at about 110. I was in B1, B2 was open, there were 3 others connected. I was not preconditioned. But what the hey, I needed coffee and a bacon/egg/cheese croissant. Was also getting low on chocolate chip cookies, too.

You are driving AWDs. presuming the bigger battery? ABRP shows <50 KW from Lindale to Natchitoches. I wouldn't think that a high pucker factor mission. I've done Coppell to Natchitoches 95% to 10% when I was in a hurry, but my sporting blood turns to urine after 15%. And, alas, I no longer have my truck driver's bladder.

However, comma, having a second S/C not far away is a good thing. I make a monthly DFW-Tyler-Longview and sometimes New Orleans trip, so this one will be welcome.
