Supercharger - Yermo, CA (LIVE 21 Nov 2017, 18 V2 Stalls)

Now the question is, should I stop here or continue to stop at barstow.... hmmmm
The Barstow SC site is a bit out of the way for us, being southwest of the CA-247 turnoff to Big Bear. So we've preferred to charge to 95% in Primm, NV and drive straight home from there. Eddie World is going to fix that for us - we'll be able to spend less time in Primm and just do a quick Supercharge session in Yermo. :)

Have you mapped/timed the difference? Odds are it would be much faster to go a few miles out of the way in Barstow than range charge at primm...
It would take us about 12-15 minutes extra to visit the Barstow Supercharger, not including charging time. Figure on 15-20 minutes of charging in Barstow. In total, about 30-35 minutes.

Our alternative is to add about 75 more miles in Primm, closer to the top end of the battery at about 40 kW, which takes about 40 minutes.

So you're right that we could ideally minimize charge+travel time by visiting Barstow. However, when traveling with a family, making an extra stop in order to save 5-10 minutes doesn't pan out. People end up wanting to get out of the car and it takes a certain amount of effort to round everyone up when we're ready to go.

In the future, if we can save more like 20-25 minutes by visiting Yermo, that should be worthwhile, especially if Eddie World proves to be a nicer place to stop than Primm or Barstow. In the future, we'll likely prefer to charge at the newer SC in Las Vegas (South) which has a Whole Foods market, skip Primm, and then charge in Yermo.

Ed Ringle is the creator of Eddie World. His base of operations is Beatty, Nevada where he is the local tycoon, owning the only casino (next to the original Eddie World) and several motels. He is in his 60s and as far as I know he is still perfectly fine.
I had thought Eddie was the kid in the Eddie World logo. Maybe that is a pic of Ed Ringle when he was a kid, or maybe he had a kid and gave him the same name.

Anyways in googling, I found this old article about him that explains a lot of his history in Beatty:

Developer envisions casino complex in Beatty aimed at Hispanics

Dropped in to check out progress. Looking good!

@OCRyan you are THE MAN !

Tell those guys to hurry the hell up, the Model 3 flood gate is about to open up!

Actually, what occurs to me is that Tesla is building superchargers "just ahead of the flood". E.g., it's Tesla and SpaceX employees who get theirs first, so they're focusing on big stations between California and Nevada. I expect to them see a big "broader US" push (particularly in the cities, since they're closer to their utilization limits), then Canada, then RHD Europe, then LHD Europe, and so forth.

It would be a reasonable strategy, at least, and it seems to match what we're seeing.

Getting closer. These photos taken afternoon of Wednesday 6SEP17. I judged that they were working feverishly to get it up and running. I will be back on Saturday and make a quick update, if Yermo is not already on line.
Thanks for the awesome photos! Things are progressing quickly. It looks like there will be an enclosure surrounding the cabinets, as expected, and hopefully with proper security in place given the Barstow events.
If you can, please stop by the Baker location and grab some photos for us there as well.

This is in a much more visible area at "Eddie's World". The Barstow location is tucked away from everything and when the Chili's closes at night there is NOTHING back there. I assume "Eddie's World" will be 24/7.

While this is indeed on the "California/Nevada" route, it is nowhere near the Fremont factory nor the Giga Factory in Sparks, NV. I see you're from Iceland, so for comparison - Barstow to Sparks, NV is about as the same kilometers of driving as it is to drive from one side of Iceland to the other.
