I should be taking delivery of my MS in April in VA/DC, and will be in the SFO area in two weeks (end of Feb). I'd like use the opportunity to take the factory tour. For those of you who have done this already, how did you go about it? Who at Tesla did you speak to?

Thanks.

Use Tesla's new 'everything' support number: 877-798-3752. Option '4' in the menu puts you through you to what used to be called the Ownership Experience team. Tell them you're a reservation holder and want to schedule a factory tour; they'll take care of you.

You're more than welcome to join me since I'll probably go alone (can't convince my wife to come), but I'm not sure whether our timing will work out. I'm hoping for next week pick up, although it may not happen until 2 weeks from now. I'll post my pick up date as soon as I find out.

My product specialist organized it for me in under a week. I went down from Vancouver BC last Friday and it was worth it! They are running 5/12's right now so the are powering through the cars. I just imagined that one of the green ones early in the line was mine as I'm due for delivery early march. It helped with the wait! Have fun!

Andrew - a couple of additional tips:

1). Study the satellite view on google maps before you go. link here: Google Maps You will see the test track on the southeast side of the property. The road that you enter the property on will curve around and you can drive to a point where the track is visible.

2). As you go around the southeast corner of the facility, notice the parking lot next to the building, where finished cars are staged. I have tried to take a count back in November of last year, but it's a bit far from the road you will be on.

3). When you first enter the facility (corner of Industrial Drive and Kato Drive) you will see a parking lot on the northwest side of the facility that seems to be where they start the drive of finished cars.

4). Just across the freeway is a McDonald's. While not the best place to dine in the area, this is a great place to go around lunch or breakfast time, as it is packed with Tesla employees that are usually pretty chatty. Who knows what you might find out there!!

5). Make sure you keep a sharp eye out for one of our RED beauties and report back!!

All of this data is dated, as I was last in the area at the end of 2012, but all interesting to see, even before you go on tour. Hope this is helpful...

Thanks everyone for the replies. I called the new 800# number option '4', and the gentleman I spoke with said that they were not currently offering tours to reservation holders (!??). If I was an OWNER - IE, I had already taken delivery, then perhaps something could be arranged. It was a very odd discussion. It feels like I'm being penalized for not living in the bay area. Anyway.. the tesla rep stated they are working on a schedule for tours that will startup later this year and suggested I wait until then. I mentioned the forums and that several people in a similar situation were able to schedule tours, and he suggested that I speak with my delivery specialist. I gave him my RN number and he was able to look up who that is (up until now I only knew my config specialist.) He wouldn't give me his phone number, but he gave me his email address. So I've now emailed my DS and await a reply.

jchangyy - if my DS doesn't respond or responds with an undesirable outcome I may take you up on your offer if our schedules end up aligning. My ideal date is the Feb 27th, but the 28th would probably also work.
