Tapping the charge port no longer opens it

Any thoughts? Could this be a software thing? I used to just touch it and it would open. It always opens with the app or screen though. Please note, I do not have a Tesla charger and use my old Clipper Country L2 With an adapter.

On the inside surface of the charge door, there is a tiny lozenge-shaped rubber-like magnet inserted in a lozenge slot.

In my model 3 2018, I had the lozenge rubber magnet fell off once and the push to open stopped working.

Found back the magnet on the garage floor, put it back with some good glue and have not had a problem with this ever since.

You may want to check if you lost your magnet. I bet the service center have some extras.

Could be the magnet like @Neo1974 said or a software issue. Try restarting your MCU.

This has happened to me in the past and it always resolved itself.

Usually this will only work if the car is unlocked,, usually have to open back door, shut it then tap charger door or use app to open also have a Clipper creek charger at work

I tried all that. Car goes in for minor service (a creaky noise) on the 15th. They added this to it.

I think newer cars don't have a separate, glued on lozenge. It's probably integrated inside the door.

My M3 is still at the service center. It appears that they replace the part entirely According to the service doc. More updates to follow once I get Nikola back.

Verified customer concern. Replaced Charge Port Door. Verified Proper Operation.

Tried that, and so did the techs. In the end, they replaced it. It now works perfectly.
