Pardon my ignorance, I recall 2015 being the year of autonomous driving being a 'solved problem'
I have often seen discussions of AP1 upgrades.
Didn't know that this was a line in the sand, Musk seemed pretty optimistic back then that those owners would have FSD.
On October 14, 2015 Tesla released AP1 as a step on the path toward FSD.
Your Autopilot has arrived
The FSD demo video announcement came out with AP2 on Oct 19, 2016.

Yes. RTFM. That's the problem with most people: who's got time. The overwhelming majority of drivers cannot even use a simple cruise control let alone something a bit more sophisticated like FSD. I spent 40 years as a pilot reading notes, cautions, and warnings. I guarantee there are things that will bite you in the a** on the ground as well as in the air. So, in all the years I have been driving, I don't do anything differently. I am still the MFWIC of the car. AP1 and AP3 just let me relax a bit more.
