So far, the invitations reported here all have the criteria Tesla outlined for early priority:
-current Tesla owner;
-reserved in store or at the reveal event (earlier than on-line opportunity);
-located in CA
I don’t know how many reservations that represents, but I suspect it’s a pretty small number. In casually talking with people in line in Seattle, I didn’t encounter another current owner. (If my wife hadn’t asked so nicely for an M3, I would have reserved on line. I don’t wait in line for much voluntarily)
From the Tesla Model 3 FAQs:
“Invitations will be sent based on the date and time you placed your reservation, whether you are an employee, if you own a Tesla, and if we have started production in your country.”
Somewhere else they also said they would start closest to the factory.
Again, I am not located in California.

But you may be special! ;)

Seriously, you may be the only one not in California, and I think most of us who have been on this forum for a while are aware of (and appreciate) the contribution you have made to Tesla and EVs. Tesla knows that also.
While I love & appreciate the sentiment (who wouldn't!), I'd counter that if that were the case, I'd have received an invite in the first wave that went out before mine did.

It could be that because I MADE the reservation in California (at the event), that I got on the list. If the algorithm was along the lines of 'if (CurrentTeslaOwner and BeforeOnlineReservations and ReservationMadeInCalifornia) ... then I would fall into that group.

Wasn’t your address in CA at that time as well? Making the reservation there may be less of a point than having a CA address, albeit since changed.
(Part of me can’t believe I’m reading the tea leaves like this)

That's why I noted yesterday that your reservation method was interesting. I would propose that they treated the kiosks at the reveal event like a store.

I fall into that exact same group, but living 3000 miles away, I don't think I'm getting an invite any time soon. :/
I need to adjust that algorithm slightly ...

if (CurrentTeslaOwner and BeforeOnlineReservations and ReservationMadeInCalifornia and ReservationHolderDidntDanceOnTableWithLampshadeAtTeslaEvent) then SendInvite.

I think we are trying to make this process logical when it is only partially so. Pretty sure Bonnie has been in WA for years . . .
No, I left California August 2016. I did change my address on my account about the time I moved - and took delivery of my X up here. So it's not like current records show California.

If she changed her address in her MyTesla account would they even have a record of her old address? And yes, this is silly. :)

My mistake, sorry. So you WERE living in CA when you made the reservation? That could explain it.

I still think these are not hard and fast rules. Tesla certainly made lots of exception when delivering the Model S.

Got my invite to configure today. I cannot see where to choose interior color> is there no choice?
I live in CA, reserved in Houston March 31 about 1030 CDT, and own a Model S

I bet you'll get yours pretty soon... if they are saying thousands per week by end of December, or mid January at the latest, then you'd be in that timeframe. There aren't THAT many owners that want first config.

Also, I'm in NC (mountains) but black doesn't concern me much since the car will not let it get too hot inside.

Black definitely makes sense in Mountains but in Naples or NC beach it's a no-go.....
