Unless paint has changed a great deal since I last had anything to do with it, the only "quality" paint job is one where you strip the car to the frame, acid dip it, and then paint it using a method similar to the factory. This will cost way more than PPF. Any other paint job is sub par at best.Oh, sheesh! Ask them to put little mudflaps on the fenders and don't worry about it. I've been driving my Stealth P3D primarily on a highway that is the most expensive in the state to keep open in the winter due to the amount of crap they think they need to layer on the road and it hasn't caused an issue yet - the car still looks great. And that's without ANY mudflaps. I just wax the paint a few times a year. If it needs to be repainted in 10 to 15 years, I'll get a quality paint job.
@elonmusk: Model Y production for east coast too
I wonder if the talks with Texas were unsatisfying.
Elon only threw it in the ring as a possibility via a poll. I imagine that Texas is in the running for that Cybertruck factory. What happens to the plan on Giga Texas now, anyone knows?
Here's my guess: TADA wouldn't budge. What happens to the plan on Giga Texas now, anyone knows?
Additional tweet about setting up a factory on the east coast. So Giga 5 and 6 in the USA.
Is he saying the Cybertruck factory will also be making Model Y or another factory on East coast?
That would be my guess. The dealer association has the legislators in their pocket at the present time.I wonder if the talks with Texas were unsatisfying.
i would read it as two factories. Cybertruck factory being the first priority and then he's saying in the second tweet.... oh btw we're doing Y production on East Coast too.
Wouldn’t Texas be sort of still ‘central’ USA?
Yes, but I doubt he wants to build a factory there when Texas doesn't allow car sales.Wouldn’t Texas be sort of still ‘central’ USA?
Companies plan for the long term. No one will talk about coronavirus in a year, until the next similar virus shows up, just like SARS and MERV.I gotta think Corona virus fallout isn't hurting Tesla business too much if he's pressing hard to build 2 more factories in USA.
Sure, but now it's a competition. With like, 20 other states.Wouldn’t Texas be sort of still ‘central’ USA?
It means test drive without direct contact with any people. You go to a test drive site and all are remotely controlled except the test drive itself. You have one hour to do the drive and cannot get out of the car during the test drive. The car is disinfected after each test drive. China has been taking extraordinary measures to avoid directly contact between strangers as much as possible. People are getting very creative over there. It seems worded.Has it been posted that Tesla China is offering 'contactless test drives' to its potential customers? My mandarin is extremely limited, so maybe someone else can better explain how this works? @Causalien @kengchang @Mars ☰mperor

Huh? That sounds to me like the same central USA factory will build Model Y for the East Coast.Additional tweet about setting up a factory on the east coast. So Giga 5 and 6 in the USA.
Hmmm, Lexus comes in 23rd.
