Yeah, you know who it hurts? The degenerate gambler that said, nope, not this time! Weakened for the next hand, which most certainly will be a losing one if s/he partakes.
no point updating guidance until they have a better of when US production restarts, at earnings in 4-5 weeks that will be much clearer.

I concur with everyone's sentiment. Good to celebrate on this small milestone. Especially was feeling really bad when rest of the market is up and only TSLA was down.
Hopefully this P&D report jogs peoples’ short term memory that they were willing to pay over $900 per share not that long ago, and nothing much has changed to Tesla’s future prospects except that its competitors have become significantly weaker.

A little birdie who visits me from time to time knows of at least one instance of an individual who added +2 (!!) brand new LR MX to the P&D count this quarter as part of their overall "preparation strategy" for the COVID-19 situation (along with shelf-stable food, hand sanitizer, masks, etc.)
They wanted the ability to be able to get to/from medical assistance, transport other family members in an emergency, etc. without having to rely on gas stations. They presume the cars will sit plugged in most of the time and unlike a gas car that might suffer from sitting too long without being driven, the Tesla was the only viable option that would be ready to go at any time.
Wish I could drop $200k for peace of mind

Seems highly unlikely without a surprise one off gain from somewhere (FCA deal etc). but no one was expecting a Q1 profit after the last month of Covid-19 disruption.

I thought the rumour was that they had in fact already bought some land in texas?
The thought crossed my mind, but the really low S/X deliveries will probably prevent that.
Shouldn't the margins on china made cars be higher than when they were shipped from Cali? I mean it's not a massive difference but every little bit counts.

Like everyone else who held on, I'm glad for the after-market bounce.
But what excites me more about the numbers is how they demonstrate Tesla and TSLA are poised to erupt in the 6-12 months post-coronavirus. We are sitting on a powder keg of a stock.
That said, I expect the short-term ride to remain bumpy (this TSLA after all ).

Hard to tell the margins without them being broken down. But at this point, I would expect any shipping cost advantage to probably be nullified by reduced margins during the product ramp.
But who knows, it's not outside the possibility.
