“We’ve always looked at stocks as being part of a business. People bring the attitude toward them too often that, because they are liquid and quoted, that its important to develop an opinion on them minute by minute. That’s really foolish when you think about it. That’s something Graham taught me in 1949: that single thought that stocks were parts of businesses and not just little things that moved around – charts were popular in those days.”

“Imagine that you’d decided to invest money now, and that you bought a farm; say 160 acres at X per acre. And this farmer next to you bought 160 acres of identical quality. And this farmer was a very peculiar character because every day that farmer, with the identical farm, says ‘I’ll sell you my farm, or I’ll buy your farm, at a certain price”, which he would name. Now, that’s a very obliging neighbor. That’s gotta be a plus to have a fellow like that on the next farm.”

“You don’t get that with farms; you do get it with stocks. If you own 100 shares of General Motors on Monday morning someone will buy your 100 shares or sell you another 100 shares at exactly the same price. And that goes on five days a week.”

“When you bought the farm you looked at what the farm will produce – that is what went through your mind. You say to yourself, I’m paying X dollars per acre and I’ll get so-many bushels of corn."

My other major "farm" is SpaceX. Guess what my spreadsheet says about it's value during this whole circus? Nothing. No change because it's not public and I don't have a crazy neighbor shouting prices at me. Cheers.

Rocket science / technology, engineering focused company lead by a genius engineer with physics background. First Principles!

EV technology, engineering focused company lead by a genius engineer with physics background.First Principles!

technology, engineering social media company lead by a person suffering from Asperger's syndrome

Can you spot the difference ?

ps: I take it, that those who "disagree" with my question can not spot the difference
I'd just like to point out as a fellow neurodivergent, that one doesn't "suffer" from Asperger's syndrome as you would an ailment! It also often gives us significant advantages over normally wired people. ;)

Is a larger break up in the future a possibility?

I would say almost a certainty 😅

There also have been some rumours that they’re planning to IPO Lamborghini. Selling of all the money making parts and brands isn’t a good look imo.

The current stock price is insane.
Rivian have made no dent, Lucid still struggle to make any serious amount of EVs. GM are miles away from a serious scaling strategy, VW just basically admitted they are useless, and toyota still believe in the hydrogen fairy.

Meanwhile Tesla are scaling like crazy, 2 factories ramping, and a new product gets delivered in just under 2 weeks time.
And people out there must be SELLING tesla stock?

Seriously considering selling a huge pile of other stocks I have, to double down on TSLA. this price is absolutely insane.

NAS as a whole is red ..
Nasdaq is flat , TSLA down 2.5%……so let’s not make excuses.

TSLA is being targeted daily, non stop. As I mentioned in a post yesterday, this is a moment in time that shorts and hedge funds won’t get again. They’re going to make the most of the next 6 weeks to pummel TSLA as low as they can possibly get it.

Yep, good buying opportunity. I just wonder when TSLA will turn around and start going back up, because man it feels like it's been a long, loonnnnngggggggg time.... 🤔

One of the worst things is that we will have to hear the chickens of the world claiming to be stock market geniuses that predicted all of this crap.

Elon deferred to the board. The board hasn't made a decision (for tesla) their entire life ;)

we have 2 camps here, for/against buyback. If for, then definitely might be best to sign petition. Boomer mama unlike say ex-valueAnalyst has not been saying Tesla going to moon etc... so I find it highly unlikely she is playing short term/options etc.

If there is no buyback news by Jan delivery date, I am loading up on PUTS for Q4 :)

(+ just remember S&P was going to give the credit update anyway  , but ya mama put a spotlight on their arses ;) )

Speaking of the petition/buyback
  • act before the 1% tax on share buybacks becomes applicable on Jan 1, 2023
So if they did a buyback of 5B, they save 1% - 50M, 10B and they save 100M vs doing it in say 2023 ... cheers!!

...contract manufactured by an auto parts manufacturer, Magna International… in Austria! When could go wrong? Yet the articles are more than positive because that's how iPhones are built don't you know?
You do not need to denigrate Magna to understand Fisker. Magna Steyr is the manufacturer and is an auto contract builder for many companies, just look at the list:
magna-steyr
Fisker is another story:
He has had some cars he designed that became successful, more or less:
BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Fisker Karma, Galpin-Fisker Mustang Rocket, VLF Force 1 V10, VLF Destino V8, Fisker EMotion, Fisker Ocean, and Fisker Orbit.
They have all been small volume and all, in my opinion, valued form over substance.

He did have a role in design of the Tesla Model S but:

Simply stated, Fiskers own history shows why his new efforts will not end out successful, just as most of his others have had modest success at best. The BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin's have been the successes.

So, Fisker himself explains it all. Frankly the real question is how he's conned Magna Steyr to build Fiskers. They can build any cars at all, as they've proven, but they do insist on being paid and Fisker is not noted for designing profitable vehicles. Allegedly none of his designs have been profitable. The BMW Z8 was an M5 mechanically, and had under 6,000 ever made. Nevertheless, it was Fisker's sales triumph.

That track record is rather unenviable, but somehow he still can raise enough money to try. Just don't expect anything other than good build quality, if they actually happen at all.

The Ligma Johnson hedge fund continues their selling.
TMC and longs continue on a sinking ship
MP3 and (carrot) anticipation desperately needed back. Now, not in two weeks.
FSD team needs to solve for some easily understood demonstrable problem
need more mysterious sightings of ct, semi, heck just go mock up fake next models here and in china

Mark my words, Zach is CEO candidate. Everyone being on the calls has been them trialing, Zach sounds the sanest, most together, driving the message well.

The daily twitter fiasco makes tesla a target. No 2 ways about it.

Nothing tesla does right seems to matter.

It seems unlikely based upon @Gigapress evaluations that the "twitter fiasco" has any significant bearing upon the TSLA SP.

Rather, the FUDsters are taking advantage of the opportunity to amplify the attack on the weak hands in order to accumulate more shares from the fearful. By triggering limits they have set, and triggering margin calls, and painting their world in doom and gloom for anyone who doesn't have sense enough to consider what the company is actually doing.

There are a lot of people participating in the market who treat it as a casino and depend more upon chance to profit than they do logic and reason. This attitude benefits them about as much as spinning the Roulette wheel or buying scratch-offs at the convenience store. Yet they keep applying this (ahem) strategy based more upon hope that lady luck will smile upon them than monitoring the company performance. (which would ease their fears greatly, were they to peruse the data)

There is that definition of insanity which was shared by Albert Einstein to consider regarding the pawns being manipulated here.

One of the worst thing is that we will have to hear the chickens of the world claiming to be stock market geniuses that predicted all of this crap.

I hate to say it, but given how strongly TSLA keeps wanting to dive lower and lower, even on positive macro days, I honestly think we could see a share price close to Chicken's $140 before we get Q4 earnings. It just seems like nothing positive registers for TSLA yet everything negative hits really hard, the downward pressure is excessive.

PE of 40 by January anybody? :p

This is one petition I would never sign. This is a horrible idea until the recession is over and global markets have stabilized.

Why is GM stock at the top of my list this morning? Now this is leading! /s

"General Motors (GM) raised 2022 cash-flow guidance Thursday after declaring it will make profitable electric cars by mid-decade. "

and this one is even better...

"GM also expects to bring battery cell costs below $70 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) by mid-to-late decade, management said Thursday. "
