So what would happen in a market if Tesla leaves? Who would benefit? Almost everyone!
There is an easy solution to the Swedish situation. Tesla leaves. Almost nobody cares. Most that have any skin in the game will be happy.
Few not owning a Tesla already would care if Tesla went away. Actually getting rid of a foreign billionaire trying to force a change to a working system that he doesn't understand would be considered a great solution for many.
The market is small enough that without Teslas there would be enough other EVs to buy. The charging network would be an issue for awhile but both car makers and charging networks would love to see an EV market without Tesla. Since there is one of the highest percentage markets for EVs in the world Sweden would immediately be prioritized by every other company in the EV business. Tesla won't ever build a factory in the country anyway so there is no real incentive for politicians to try to keep Elon happy either.
Obviously in a larger market it would hurt both Tesla and the larger country. But for a 10 million people market? Hey, it could be an interesting experiment.
I still think there will be some kind of solution. But if Elon thinks he can win by threatening to leave he may not get the result he's expecting.
