49xxx. The sticker in the door panel says manufactured 08/18 but I’m not sure I believe that.

What vin are they up to now? I thought it’s around 77xxx. Wouldn’t 49xxx be from like June or earlier

It has been discussed many times over, VIN's are not related to the manufacturing date.

Got it. My timing is that I feel like RWDs are being assigned rather quickly and I have a lease that ends in November. I feel if I order now it will be ready next month

Can you push off a delivery to a later date or not take the first one that is assigned to you? Didn’t know if you don’t take the first one you lose your order down payment.
I would not order RWD today unless you want the car before Oct. Of course you could turn in your lease early and take the small loss.
Not sure how long you can push it off but they would only hold a specific VIN for you for 7-10 days.

Ordered 8/7 (no reservation) and was told by rep that I should definitely expect delivery before EOY. They couldn't guarantee it of course, but online configurator still shows October - December delivery timeframe.

I’m hoping by November as well... I leave the country a few days before Christmas so definitely need it by then (for full tax credit) and really hoping I get to drive around a little before I leave town for 2 weeks.

Yes, at least as of right now I'm planning on doing a trade-in because of the tax advantage considering Chicago / Cook County is one of the highest taxed municipalities in the country. This could change depending on what Tesla quotes me vs. Carmax / others, but unless it's a significant difference I'd just rather deal with the ease of doing a trade-in and being able to show up and leave my current car and drive off in my Model 3.

I would go to car max, caravana first, and see if it’s reasonable ....Tesla tends to be the same or less. Then if u have no trade Tesla seems to like those people and bump you to earlier delivery.

I've priced on KBB and Carvana (within $700 of each other and putting in miles as if it was early October) and will definitely check out CarMax as I get closer.
The tax savings could be 2K or more so still likely I go with Tesla, even if trade-in + financing means a few extra weeks of wait time.
