Well that kind of positive attitude is just annoying. LOL (Kidding)

I'm actually not bitter about mine being delayed either. The loan situation does suck but another inquiry isn't the end of the world.

I work from home though, which mean I do not need a car 90% of the time and when I do we can rearrange our plans to make do. The positive is the more time that goes by, the more money I have as well as now I get the new seats.

I have some friends who tell me I should be losing my crap over it, but honestly I'd rather wait it out and get a solid product. It's easy to get caught up in emotions and look back a year later and it wasn't as big of a deal as you thought. It is a Tesla product launch and they do have a history with that.

I FINALLY GOT MY VIN! (kinda) 212XX

So as some of you may be aware, Tesla isn't showing VINs anymore until 1 week before delivery. However, there is a backdoor to check. While logged in, if you add the wall connector to the cart, then click checkout, you can see your vehicle VINs or RNs in the dropdown.

Here's what it looked like when I looked Friday:

That worked for me. Confirmed my suspicions about the edit button disappearing. 185xx. Hopefully I get the call tomorrow so I can get this thing paid for it and get it on the way to the Dallas service center.

That is great news!
The VIN should also be in your Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement when ISA sends it you to sign.

I didn't get that far with my last VIN. It came time to send the funds and he called back before sending the mvpa to let me know something was wrong with the car.

I'll be calling up my bank tomorrow morning to hopefully have everything ready to go the second Chris calls back to get the ball rolling again.

Config 4/24
July estimate now :(

Turns out delaying my config ~2.5 weeks cost me 2 months!!! Has I known this would be the case I would have configured earlier. I waited though because I wanted to give them a few more weeks to figure out build issues. Based on the spreadsheet tracking I forsaw no issue with this...
They had to know this would be a problem way before they told us. Either they have no idea what their own manufacturing/logistics is capable of or they are sandbagging intentionally. I think the latter (for tax purposes).

I'm beyond miffed at this point. Each delay progressively ruins the excitement for me. Wife is pissed too. Not making me want to go run out and tell my friends to buy a Tesla that's for sure. I wouldn't wish this *sugar* on anyone.

If it's any consolation, I did configure right away on 4/6 and I just got a VIN (not the 1 week prior to delivery VIN though). I've been quoted 3-4 weeks from VIN to delivery here in Texas by Tesla, which would be mid-June. About 2.5 weeks later is July, so your estimate isn't really that far off.

That being said, I'm in the same position you are. I'm not super enthusiastic about recommending Tesla to anyone I know because of their delay shenanigans. The delays aren't fun, but what's unacceptable is the lack of communication. This email is the first step in the right direction, but I need to see a whole lot more improved before I'd be willing to recommend again.

I called in this morning and after a nice long hold, I was able to confirm that I do indeed have a VIN and ISA/delivery specialist. They not only offered to ping them for me, but gave me their name and email address. I went ahead and shot them a brief email in hopes of expediting things.

Due to the timing of my loan expiration, I don't think I'll be moving forward with RBFCU. I have instead gotten approved for an unsecured loan with Lightstream and easily got them to beat RBFCU's original 1.95% APR I was approved for by 0.1%, despite the RBFCU rate expiring in a week. I now have a fresh 30 days on a loan that has an even lower rate than what I had before. It's a pity that RBFCU wouldn't extend the rate lock for me (I asked), but it's understandable since their rates have gone up.

Something positive from all of this mess for ya.

I can almost guarantee they are sandbagging because of the tax credit and end of quarter looming. Of course they are not going to outright say that, but what else could it be?

I have delivery scheduled for this Thursday (Austin)

Does Tesla still FedEx'ed paperwork to be completed/returned before Delivery?
(nothing has been shipped via FedEx to me yet)

I have inquired with my SA to see what they say and I will call the store the day before to make sure everything is good to go.
