The next Tesla Roadster

Discussion in 'Future Cars' started by richkae, Feb 13, 2015.

When do you think Tesla will make a new Roadster

  1. Will never happen. Never = not for at least 20 years. Tesla will seek larger markets, not smaller.

  2. Won't happen for at least 10 years, after Model 3, pickup, van, new Model S/X

  3. Will be a Model 3 variant, within 2 years of other Model 3s.

  4. Will be delivered as part of the Model 3 lineup - within <3 months of the first Model 3s.

I'm bored of speculating about the Model X, so now I wan't to speculate about other future cars.

I voted Model 3 variant but I'm torn. I expect (hope) that part of the Model 3 lineup will have the same drivetrain as the P85D. That much power and 30% less mass will make it a sub-3-second car. I do expect them to make a 911-killer as the next Roadster (it will not be a hard-edge sports car like the current Roadster - the market is way too small while the 911 market is comparatively quite large) but not sure how they will make it even more powerful. Sacrifice the frunk completely and put the P85 rear motor in the front too?
