Time from "in production" to UK delivery

It's been a couple of weeks since I was told by Tesla that production was complete on my Model X and it was making its way from the factory to a US port. I'm finding myself checking MyTesla for a new update everyday as I'm guessing it will get loaded onto a ship sometime soon.

Any ideas how long in takes on average from factory to port?

Generally a minimum of 2 weeks, nearer to 3 before leaving the port. If you look for the Maersk ship leaving Houston closest to 3 weeks that's probably your best indicator. The change to "en route to Europe" seems pretty accurate as I believe they scan the containers in, and with 3 cars in each that prompts a few updates which are then reported here or on other fora.

Mine arrived in Tilburg (nl) on Dec 16th and has been there for nearly 2 months now... whatever timeline they give you, add another 50%

That's a nightmare! What reasons are they giving you? Deliveries of the X to the UK started literally just before Xmas. It can only be parts, which I don't understand if the cars are built in Fremont. Frustrating doesn't begin to cover it :(

There seems to be so much inconsistency. My email re MX in production was 29/01, I had the email re out of production and in transit to the port 11/02 so exactly 2 weeks although I'm advised it was taken off the track for a QA issue. I was advised by Del specialist 2 days ago that delivery more likely to be mid April despite my tesla saying late March, yet 65 days (9 weeks) from production start is 26th March. Just love it when nothing stacks up but hope 65 days and my tesla are correct...and throw into the equation not sure whether i will get the perforated seats, if AP2 will work, if the headlights will be as rubbish as are being made out to be.. Frustrated, yet excited and also questioning my £100k spend!

There's no doubt trying to get a handle on the delivery date of an X seems impossible. On this occasion I think your DS is probably more accurate than My Tesla (not that that is saying much tbh). It's 2-3 weeks to get from Fremont to Houston, so using the 11th Feb as a start point that would put you in Houston in time for the 5th or 12th March sailing, arriving in Rotterdam 20th and 27th respectively. Maybe just possible you could get the 26th Feb sailing arriving 13th March, but that's very optimistic.

Those of us arriving at Rotterdam on the 2nd Feb have been given provisional delivery dates of end of Feb and first two weeks in March. Assuming the 5th or 12th sailing does suggest a mid April delivery. At least they can register the car before end of March so the VED won't be a problem.

Historically if you ordered something that is then discontinued, it's been supplied. TACC and Autosteer should be better than now, but full AP2 features, unlikely. The headlights are getting panned in some quarters, I guess it probably depends on what you are coming from. A number of reports of them not be aligned properly for the UK, so hopefully a SC adjustment and will be better.

Will ownership be a bit of a roller coaster of highs and frustrating lows? I'm trying to set my expectations accordingly, which is not easy.

Despite y not wanting the answer but some Miracle response, think your bang o. DJP.. Just so frustrating whe. 26/12 was initial production date, then it goes in earlier than GS rearranged date yet spends 5 days sitting off track putting it back a week and removing any chance of a March delivery. Biggest downer is my existing car goes back end March and we also on holiday 30/03 so plans were that MX goes detailer for a week while we away and all ready for our return meaning no hire car and no being without my brand new MX:(

So, got a call from my delivery specialist today asking me If I'd like to take delivery early at the end of March. I was originally looking to delay delivery until June (need to save a bit more...) but now they're asking if I can take delivery next month.

It also looks like the car is about to get on a boat from Houston (it's been three weeks since it left the factory and there's a boat leaving tomorrow for Antwerp). So I'd guess anyone on the same boat would be looking at a late March delivery too!

Definitely sounds like your on the Iowa then! I also had a call, I'm collecting my S on the 1st March. They are clearly trying to get you into this quarters figures. The quarter end is manic, and unless you really want it in March, which by the sound of it you don't, I'd say thanks but no thanks.

Congrats, that's exciting! So, do you think they will rush the delivery/handover just to get it in the quarter? Does that mean they'll cut corners? The upside is that it will mean I'm except from the new VED charges coming in April so probably worth doing.

Thanks, I was hoping for an early March pick up but wasn't expecting it to be confirmed quite this early. I believe the VED issue has been sorted, they can register the car providing the car has left the Fremont factory gate. There are plenty that have been told that and I think it was confirmed at a Clubhouse meeting last weekend.

There is no doubt that they cram as many deliveries as they can into quarter end, it is the only date that matters to them. Consequently the already somewhat suspect PDI's come under even more pressure and handovers can be very rushed. If you specified a June delivery I don't think they can force you to take the car and although I'm sure you're dying to get the car I'd go for 1st week in April over end of March every time.

Hi guys,
Just to give everyone an idea on time lines , my Tesla updated yesterday confirming the car had arrived in Tilburg.Today I dropped into the Knutsford store and they logged into their system and a delivery date of March 5th to Manchester was Showing with the expectation /guess from the chap in store of middle of March for collection .

So based on the above it's approx 3 weeks door to door Tilburg to UK store then another week or so before delivery.

Hope this helps ?

Which ship from Houston where you on @Tanflado ?

Sorry not sure , at a guess I think it was transferring from Freemont to Houston inbetween Xmas and New Year with it sailing Around 24th Jan or possibly a day or two earlier ?

I think from memory DJP we were on the same boat or so it seemed ?

I was on the Missouri which left on the 20th Jan, got to Rotterdam on the 2nd Feb and I'm taking delivery on the 1st March. It took a week for My Tesla to update showing it was at Tilburg. My Tesla is definitely behind the times, I'm still showing as "arrived at Tilburg" whereas I've been and gone!

I have found the new centralised delivery centre number of 01628 450604 very useful.

My final invoice is also showing in the documents section of My Tesla.

Sounds like I was actually literally in the next boat after you then......!

Thanks for the heads up on the centralised number I will touch base with them next week for an update.

Have you arranged insurance yet, the only company I have managed to get a quote from is direct line , the other two don't insure Tesla's?

LV have been excellent for me, very easy online quote engine too.
