To carbon fiber or not to carbon fiber...

Looks better fitted for a yacht, but if you like it than that’s all that matters.

Oddly, the cruiser has CF in the cockpit, so did the sailing Cat we had before that but that makes more sense on boat. Both our 4 series and C class have wood. Kinda classic, class in a high end auto. Imo. I understand carbon fiber is pretty, but it really was designed to serve a purpose. Racing aeronautical etc. And virtually everybody puts it all over their Tesla so it's getting kind of played out. Don't even get me started on the fake sticker stuff.

Agreed, carbon fiber is over played. At least the ones using the carbon wrap are paying less, yet getting the same outcome.

$9 and you can wrap two dashboards and plenty leftover for bits and pieces

Feel free to send the link to those, is that the "Real vinyl"? I've read those are notorious for peeling over time after 6ish months...
It has been 4 months with several weeks of 95-100F heat 8+ hours under the sun while I am at work with no issue so far.

Cover in sun will eventually lift up as it’s just 3m tape. Some people are happy with it but most I spoke with eventually do full replacement.
Then you can simply replace with non-fake 3M tape that actually last and put it back and save another $300 for not getting the full replacement OR you can spend $9 and get it wrapped.
3M tape on my dash cam outlasted my previous two cars over 8 years without lifting or peeling.

Went with the full dash replacement from aroham.net. Hit and miss with quality though. Also got a steering wheel from them and then a CF center console cover off eBay.

Personally I hated the light wood look and the fat steering wheel. Feel this looks much more sporty and can go back to stock whenever without fear of damage since it's a full replacement dash.

I have a MYP on order. I know the first thing I'm going to do is get a cover for the wood across the dash. I was thinking of going carbon fiber for that. Was looking at carbon fiber steering wheel overlays and other trim bits. Can I get some pics of CF interiors? Any thoughts of too much CF? I don't want to be Captain Carbon Fiber and regret it later. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
Here’s some of the colors and different styles I can have done in overlays. You do any color basically and about 10 different weave styles. Regular 2x2, honeycomb, forged, Kevlar, reflex. Carbon fiber overlays look amazing and can be done on anything. Door panels the entire exterior of a car etc. Definitely do not buy carbon fiber covers they suck you’re better off wrapping over it than doing that.

Way to glossy and the reflection will be terrible on the side window when you try to view the side mirror. bad idea unless you can make it matte or non glossy finish.
Clearly you have no idea about carbon fiber. If it’s gloss it’s supposed to pop but never will cause any issues with reflection. If you use crappy looking cheap fake carbon than it won’t pop. The sun actually takes away from the pop and has minimal reflection. The best way to see the color is when it’s not under the sun but in a dark area with minimal light but by no means does it ever have any reflection that effects your sight that is probably one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard before. And yes it can always be done in matte but no one usually wants that. Go to an actual car show where there are multi million dollar cars that have exposed carbon fiber on the exterior. You definitely don’t know what you’re talking about and the varieties that can be done are endless. Your lack of knowledge is nothing short of comical. Look at this first picture when the sun hits it it has the least amount of pop with color to it. The last picture is regular Matte on a Model S grill.

Do you have a website?

Don't have MS, but try that glossy carbon to the MY dash piece and you will see what I am talking about.
and honestly, your glossy carbon pieces look cheap.

That makes zero sense. This is done to literally every car why is your model y any different? Do you have gloss cf cause I hope so otherwise you literally have zero basis to make such a claim. We do entire interiors the upper dash etc in carbon fiber. It can be done over everything and anything. You really need to see how people modify cars especially exotics like the Lamborghini Urus. Keyvany does almost the entire interior in carbon fiber to go with their Carbon fiber body kit that costs over $100K. This is not new and only getting more popular

I am no expert or have experience in custom carbon fiber pieces, and it is just my opinion by just looking at your pictures. It just doesn't complement the rest of the interior. They just pop out too much and too much glossy looks just too much. Anything too much is not good, especially glossy interior pieces.

The Model Y has a weird issue with reflection. Anything white or bright or shiny will reflect onto the tinted window and block 70% of the mirror. It’s a real pain in the ass. See pic… I went with matte carbon. I’m sure that’s why he’s asking.

Next time you can just google model y and reflection and see what he’s talking about.
