Model 3 Better Looking Than the S?

I can't vote as I haven't seen one in person, but I have found that a few S owners (not all by any means) are quite dismissive of the 3 and it's more of an emotion versus logical thought. It might skew results as many people who have seen a Model 3 in person already own a Model S that they likely paid a pretty penny for.

Both are great looking cars from pictures. The new Model S in person is awesome to look at, the X, not so much. I'm excited to someday see a Model 3 in person.

I'm the opposite on the X. Don't think it looks good in pictures, but I like it better when I see it in person. I'm the same way with the first gen Panamera as well.

A couple more pictures of the Model 3 and S side by side.

I too do not like the way X looks (to put it mildly). Model S and Model X are at the opposite end of the looks spectrum on the market. When I hear M3 reminds people of X rather than S, it puts me off. Especially when I know my M3 will arrive long before (Nov-Jan) they are made available in showrooms for people to see.
I've seen the M3 in person and it does not look at all like the X. The lights in the back look closer to the X than S but that's pretty much where the resemblance ends.

I prefer smaller cars too, but to me, the S looks way better overall. Especially the bubble top part of the car (where all the glass is) and the rear. The S looks more like a traditional sedan, even though it's a hatchback (so win-win all around from an American point of view). The 3 looks like a hatchback, but has the limited practicalness of a sedan trunk (so lose-lose). I mean, it's got a smaller trunk than a Honda Civic!

Maybe I'm just not familiar with what a hatchback is, but doesn't hatchback have a much boxier rear than how the S and 3 look? Like the car below. In terms of trunk space the 3 has 15 cu feet which is the same as the civic and more than the bmw 3-series (13 cu feet).
