Stuff happens, unfortunately. Assuming accidents happen randomly, there is a non-zero probability that someone’s brand new Tesla gets totalled 1 minute after driving it off the lot.
that's rear quarter panel damage, and the cost for repairs will certainly be impressive... I would say 12-15k if in California, but I hope that prices in Oz are more reasonable

Im thinking the repairs are going to be expensive - there are about 10 approved Tesla repairers from what I saw on the list. And each one of them know how to charge a dollar or two.
I feel for you too. I reversed into the side of my neighbours parked car opposite our driveway - it went boom there was no hiding it. Not sure where my brain was that day but it certainly wasn't in the driver's seat. I still feel sheepish every time I talk to my neighbours.
Wow, I thought mine was damaged quickly. Had it a month and someone decided to drive around a truck instead of waiting for the light to change and went into into the oncoming lane to make her turn. I got nicked on the passenger front of my Model 3. Didn't look bad at all and the cost will be 3.5-5k and a week to repair.
